I suspect sanity is directed to how good you are at ignoring the random crap your brain says to you.

Listen to everything your brain says:  0% sanity.
Ignore everything your brain says:  100% sanity.

I keep ignoring the voices in my head. Therefore, I'm Sane. That makes a frightening amount of sense.

But you ARE the voices in your head.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

But you ARE the voices in your head.
Then what the hell are intrusive thoughts, if not you trying to make you feel insane?

That is the thing.  There is one tiny bit of your brain that is actually you and is somewhat normal.  Then there is the 99% of the rest of your brain that is occasionally useful, but you gotta fricking triple check everything it says, because it thinks its hilarious to trick or lie to you.

I think some people just haven't caught on to this and so believe everything that evil 99% of their brain says, which would explain things like people who think they are shapeshifters.

They're the part of you that's actually insane.

No really it's just you weighing possibilities. Just the regular ol "what if" part of your brain firing off.

I'm a philosophical zombie, so I don't have any of those. I just act as if I did.

I do have good and bad influences in my head, as evidenced by the back-of-my-head voice that tells me to kill people. And then the music playing in my head all the time. Sometimes it's so bad I can't stand it.

About all that advice you guys gave me. Especially the 'get yourself out there' bit.

I'm like a 30 minute drive from the nearest town. And I can't drive.

Not so much my voice as my body. If I'm cradling someone in my arms, I have a very stong urge to strangle them/break their neck. I can control it, fortunately.

I object to that! My alignment is solidly in the lower half of CN.

I would even label myself as C+N(E), but that first part has some negative connotations around here.
