I have a new-found respect for you folks, especially you, Tack. It pains me whenever I end up mowing the lawn, because I have seen the poor hoppers trying to get the hell out of the way...  :-\

Live and let live. This extends to pretty much everything except for ticks and mosquitoes (or parasites more generally).

I feel with you, Tack, though I have no idea how you dared to have an Australian spider living in your car. THEY CAN KILL YOU WITH THEIR GAZE.

Also your grandmotherstory was fantastic. I wish I had such memories.

A brown recluse spider bite has a 37% chance of developing into Necrosis, sure recluse spiders aren't aggressive but it's worth caution.

Yeah, but they have those in the States, too. Ugh... Necrosis seems pretty awful.

I just have to say, I treat most insects as an inferior species- I mean, I'm still an arrogant human.

I just don't like losing the ones I've personified, specifically.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

hence why I mentioned the fine part of it.
You could always grab a hatchet and move that guy's mother to the garden...

The only bugs I kill on sight are mosquitoes and roaches.  While I'm not fond of spiders, I try to get them out of my house with the minimum of harm.  I'm sure reading Charlotte's Web as a kid has influenced me a bit.

This.
The other day at work, a harmless little wolf spider was by the back door where everyone takes their cigarettes breaks. I was crushing some boxes in the cardboard baler, as I do not smoke, when one of the smokers starts flipping out about the spider. I come over, and she's like, "Omigod, kill it!" Instead, I kind of shoo it with my foot out the door. She gets all mad, "Why do you have to be all spider friendly?"
Maybe because to that poor little spider, all it was doing was trying to find some food. Maybe because to that little spider, I was a mountainous fucking god, and even spiders deserve benevolent gods. Besides, it was a wolf spider, as far as I know, they're pretty much completely harmless.
Argh.  :-\
