That's 20 shades of messed up. It's funny, but I feel sorry for her daughter.

Eh, it's a fine line between parents "trying to set your kid up with a lawyer" (the poor fools) and inappropriate.

Beware, lest they try to blackmail you afterwards. Remember Michael Jackson

I dearly hope their daughter isn't that young.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I did not mean that you did. I mean that they might claim so afterwards. I was referring specifically to that case which was proved to be a fraud afterwards. AKA blackmail.

it seems that you are a magnet to morons, people who attempt to avoid payment, and some nasty dregs of society.

You described being a lawyer very succinctly :P

that too.

then again, at least she'd recognise me.
But, knowing it's you, would she want to shake your hand?

You can take this one from my past, True. If there are multiple gangs in the area, don't con them all into paying you to do the same job in the same place at the same time. Sometimes they send heavies.

(Clarifying: I did graffiti on the side for small businesses as a teen. You know, to give them fake street cred so teens would shop there. Someone saw me once, and approached me to do a job for a gang, and paid me up front. Turns out, the area was heavily contested, and I got paid five times, up front, to do the job. When I skipped out, they came looking for me.)

Truean, if I was near you, I'd hug you to make you feel better.

it seems that you are a magnet to morons, people who attempt to avoid payment, and some nasty dregs of society.

actually, you'd probably be freaked out by a random stranger hugging you in the street, so no.

I'd totally like a close group of friends to hang around that could offer some limited physical affection, a la hugs. Just a matter of finding them, having them be trustworthy etc.

Just one state too far, Tru :(   I know a lot of people here who would accept you (after getting to know the squishy core past your tough exterior).

It's hard for me to believe that Ohio could be so much worse than Indiana.  There's tons of bigotry here, but I've still managed to play part in scraping together a loosely affiliated circle of cool non-judgmental people.
