Why don't landlords just have a "you pay for all damage your pets do" policy?

They do, but it's usually smaller than the amount it would cost to sue for it, and when they're moving out and soon to be a speck on the horizon...

Landlords are all to easy to screw over. The hefty screening is to ensure people don't try.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I guess I can believe that. Right now everyone in my house has to be on their toes to avoid getting screwed over by the landlord, but I guess there are tenants that are just as bad.

If there is time, than the landlord spends time with the pet. A week or so.

If, at the end of the week, the pet is behaved, yay he gets to stay!

PROBLEM SOLVED.

NEXT PROBLEM?
Dealing with 20+ requests for pets from potential tenants :P
Outsource it to someone who's judgement you trust.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

NEXT PROBLEM?
Paying enough to encourage a stranger to watch a animal for a week to determine its temperament.
Sex work. And/or be a land-lord.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

NEXT PROBLEM?

So I finished that crazy low quality biography I was recording today. I feel weird. I didn't say everything I wanted to say, stuff got lost or forgotten, and at the end of the day I don't think it really made me feel better, but I think I know what will...

*ahem*
An open letter, to... let's call it the demons of my past.

I am not a monster.

This is something that took me a very long time to deal with, I've spent far too long going around trying to convince myself and other people that I'm some kind of monstrous creature. But I'm not.

I'm not angry at you for the way you dealt with me, it made me feel far worse, and made the situation far worse, but I understand, I was difficult to deal with. I can get over it... even if you were douchebags.

I'm not angry at you for refusing to even let me try to reconcile and make things at least somewhat better. I have no way of getting this letter to you, I have no way of talking to you, I have no way to do anything about this situation. It's frustrating, but I'm not angry about this, I may have been at one point, but I'm not the type of person to hold a grudge.

I sometimes have immense difficulty feeling like a real human being, and maybe by some definitions, I'm not? But I am not a monster, at my worst I am a desperate, hurt, and abused, individual. At my best I am a loving, caring, person. I may have serious issues, and you may not want to deal with them, but I am not a monster.

huh... I think that actually did make me feel better.

Goddamnit, Robert Kirkman.  Goddamnit.  I knew issue 100 was going to be rough.  I know that the way you shock and surprise with your willingness to kill and abuse characters is one of the things I like best about you...

But you just killed the most like-able guy in your whole story, and it couldn't have been more cruel.  You pinpointed the exact thing that I doubt a single reader wanted to happen, and shot us right in the heart with it.

Fuck.

The worst part is, I knew it had to happen eventually... but I didn't think it would be now.  You clever bastard, making us think someone else entirely was going to die.

I'm having trouble even finishing this issue.  You've done a lot of shocking stuff, but nothing that's come even close to hitting me like this.  You better have a satisfying as hell ending in the works for this new big bad.  I don't even know what else to say.  Fuuuuuuck :(

Sad news. I think I might be forced to make a trip to Vegas at some point in the not too distant future. They're got some nice magic shows there, but frankly I'd really rather do without all the flashing lights and slot machines.

She's taking a lot of time off, and very rarely pops in for like, three minutes at a time to let us know that she's not dead yet.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
