So long as you learn from your mistakes, then you will become proficient in no time.
While that may be, between my cooking inadequacy and all the hiking I'll have to do at App State, I fully expect my Freshman Fifteen to become the Freshman Negative Twenty.
Not if you keep eating dat bacon. :P
The bacon is a luxury of still being at home. Where would I find the space or equipment to fry bacon in a dorm room? Don't answer that, I'm kind of afraid you know a way.
Dat plastic bacon.

Seriously, what? Did you not take it out of the package?!
No. I melted my spatula, somehow. Didn't even realize until after the fact. Wish I owned tongs. This wouldn't be a problem if I had tongs.

I wear an apron. I never cook nude, because it would frighten the rest of the family.

But I'm a darn good chef! :D

For my parent's 20th anniversary late last year, my siblings and I devised a three course meal for them.

My (17 year old) sister made kariforunia-makizushi, with gluten free mayonnaise replacing the normal mayonnaise.

My (13 year old) brother made filet mignon steaks which went down a treat.

And I hand-made coffee mousse with tempered chocolate on the top. :D

That's definitely not appropriate for this thread, heh. Do we having a cooking porn thread? We should show off our cooking porn.

Hm, I will have to spend more money than I have this month. Gonna bottom out after the rent check gets deposited, and I still have a $25 bill and groceries for the rest of the month. I can probably get by with less than $20 more in groceries, but it's still gonna be unpleasant. I guess I overestimated how much excess loan I could pay back (still, that $50 now might have saved me more than the $25 fee for this sort of spending, given the amount of interest I'm still likely to rack up on my loan; damn you, compound interest!)

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Have... have you tried using a fork? Was taught to flip bacon with fork, then probably eat whatever was being cooked with same fork. Less cleaning afterwards. Maybe little spatters of grease burns, but only a little and they don't even cause skin damage, usually. Stings more than anything~

Not sure where spatulas or tongs come in to the bacon cooking process, except maybe for getting them onto a plate or somethin'...

Tend to bake bacon nowadays, anyway. Little better for you, still tasty (pleeennty of grease/fat in bacon). Takes a bit longer to cook, but eh.

Wait. People fry their bacon in butter? Isn't that kind of redundant?

Dunno about butter, but grease, yes. Sometimes older bacon grease, from previous fryings. It is, admittedly, delicious, but somewhat unhealthy :P

I could see frying in butter, though. Why not?

Wouldn't the bacon stick to the pan if you didn't add something to it?

I don't know what bacon you are cooking, but mine doesn't do that. The grease in the bacon itself usually is enough for me to keep it from sticking (maybe the non-stick cookware helps too...).

Eww, bacon...

Unless you bake it with eggs/pancakes. That way bacon is delicious.

Keep in mind that U.K. bacon and U.S. bacon are cut from different areas of the pig.
