I just got a bit of a paranoid fridge horror moment about something. I don't want to say what it is because I'm probably just being really paranoid, but still... I'm worried.

You're not being paranoid if they're really out to get you.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Well my paranoid suspicions have an annoying tendency to turn out to be not so paranoid... But I shouldn't have mentioned anything, I'll probably turn out to be wrong, and then I'll feel silly. Not sure why I said anything.

Nothing wrong with being wrong.

Also, I learned that my voice is embarrassing and my inflection is unnatural.

(and that I could do a perfect christian weston chandler impersonation with that, but that boat's already sailed and I don't want to be involved in his trolling scheme anyway because seriously, come on, bullying an autistic because he doesn't know better? That's really, really low)

Cite your sources, please. The person that told you this may be, as we Americans say, an asshole.

Every so often I get twitchy and on edge. Every little itch, every little mistake, is almost enough to send me over the edge.

I'm that way right now.

While I say I had a great day in the Happy thread, it almost turned into a shit day for a second there.

I was just two streets away from my home, heading there at night, and I was an intersection, and I was looking and waiting for the perfect time to head across, and I'm timing myself to go right after this one vehicle that I'm sure is about to go straight, I start rolling forward and I have my eyes on the next car in line to make sure it's a good time to go, and I look forward and the car that was supposed to be going straight actually was turning in front of me. I nearly had a heart attack slamming on my breaks, cause I didn't see any turn signal from the dude! Fortunately, I was fast on the break and it was a near miss, and I made it home safely and without an accident.

Main, I don't know if anyone thinks my little driving stories are asinine, but that shook me up alittle, and I'm only consoled by the fact that nothing serious came of it.

A live coronation? That'll be an electric atmosphere.
The same could probably be said of a live wire.

The state bar and ethics people are giving me shit about calling it a "law office" instead of a "law firm" for my solo practice. Really?

Don't you guys have drunken attorneys to go after who aren't me?

You know, the ones who let it interfere with their work or show up to court hammered...? Or I mean something else besides a one word difference? It's good to know the state is admitting to being at least $8 Billion upside down but what little resources we have are used like this...? Balls.... Really?

Not asinine at all, actually. A little bit entertaining, because I'm pretty sure that many of us here can relate to that short burst of adrenaline that gives you the edge to avoid wrecks in situations like this.

The biggest adrenaline rush I get is taking a step on stairs and missing.

Same here. Or when I trip but actually save myself.

Increased when you happen to be carrying large objects on those stairs, like huge ass televisions.

... what's the difference between a law office and a law firm, anyway?

And re: Near Collision, it is entirely possible the guy just didn't have 'is blinker on. It's a learn-this thing, but you can pretty much never trust the other cars to actually be going in the direction their lights are indicating in all situations. Make sure they're going in the direction they're supposed to be before doing something :-\

Not using turn signal is one of those things that makes me want to strangle people. Just... if you're going to drive, get it so it's completely bloody reflexive you hit your blinkers -- when you're turning, when you're passing. Use the damn turn signal so that people both know what the hell you're about to do and know you know what the hell you're about to do.

But anyway, yeah, I reached the point where it took more concentration to not use blinker than it does to use it within about two weeks of actually driving. Not a hard habit to pick up.
