Free at the point of delivery gets boring to say after a while.

It certainly can be free (for the person receiving it).

I think it's important to bear in mind that in countries with national healthcare systems this is a right that is bought and paid for, not some wonderful gift from our political overlords to us, lest they try to dismantle it or make us pay *again* at the point of delivery.

Welp.

Dog died.

I suppose I should be going to sleep now, since I'll be burring a box in the morning.
*manly bro-hug*

Mine just turned 14 last week. I'm not looking forward to that day. Especially with trying to explain it to the kids.

I am pretty sure I did badly on a math final exam that I just took.
The depressing part is that not preparing well enough for tests is part of a consistent pattern I have, and despite recognizing that I never seem to be able to get any better about it.
At times like this I feel like I have no conscious control over my actions; no matter what plans I make or how many times I have made the same mistake before, I never always end up doing the same thing. Is this some kind of addiction?

Almost $3000 in dental work, after insurance.

What would have been a happy post of "Yay I'm getting that painful root canal fixed", is now a sad post of "How am I going to pay rent".

Working an extra 5 hours tonight because some slackasses called in sick. Yay, extra money. Boo, 14-hour workday.

Boss is getting dinner for us as a thank-you. Yay, free food! What's that? Oh. It's pizza. (I'm highly lactose-intolerant.)  :'(

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

EDIT: Oh hey, I'll just run to the grocery store and get some lactase pills! Oh look at that, it's storming like a motherf--ker outside!

In science, my friend asked what the colors on the periodic table meant (Red for gases, blue for liquids, etc. Those ones.). Then he asked where water was.

Is your friend Aristotle?
No, unfortunately.

Problem is, I skipped lunch because we were so busy, figuring that I'd just eat very heartily at dinner tonight. Now I won't get home till about 10:30pm. This leaves me with two options:

1. Not eat, be hungry as all hell and then try to scarf something when I get home.
2. Eat that delicious, mouthwatering pizza and turn my gastrointestinal tract into a ticking time bomb.

I think we all know where this is headed. Really, the decision was out of my hands.

I just learned that a family friend just had a heart attack :(
Why is it everytime my parents call me, they have some bad news to report?

It was something like $3700 overall before insurance stepped in, I maxed out the insurance.  Root canal, two buildups, two crowns.

They are an excellent place and do great work ... but maybe I need to find somewhere cheaper.

Speaking of, the numbing agent wore off an hour ago, which came with two sensations.
1) Yay!  I can feel the right side of my face!  I can eat and drink again!
2) OH GOD THE PAIN KILLER IS GONE, WHY GOD WHYYYYY.
The vicodin is cutting it down to a dull roar, instead of floor-hugging agony.

That's actually quite reasonable. My dentist wanted 6000 to pull three wisdom teeth, one bad tooth, and put a spacer where the bad tooth is.
