Demon's Souls servers shutting down this month.  :'(

Falling in love with a game just as it lands on death's doorstep.
It's not that bad. You'll have to keep your wits about you as you play the game, instead of relying on player messages. And you won't get some items you need other players and the internet for. But other than that, same game!

I hate Facebook and that I have to have a profile for work. They're switching me over to this "timeline" thing that I don't really like. I just think of this crap as the "Flare" the waitresses had to wear in the movie "Office Space."

Don't like it, or how it fundamentally changes the privacy settings by making everything easily accessible. [sigh].
The less of my life people see, the easier it is for me to live the lie they force on me. Thankfully nothing on there is damaging, but really?

:( The irony being that this technology is supposed to connect people, but all I can do is lie on it.

I have half a mind to start an account on something that's how I actually am, but I don't even wanna do that.
Frankly, it was a completely different site back in 2004....

Erase all info on it and use only fakeinfo.

I'd do that if I did not have too many valuable contacts under my real name...

Yeah, basically that's what I have to do. I do keep those little harmless notes from people though to give it some semblance of authenticity/make it convincing.

It's just amazing really. We grew up being told not to be afraid to "be  yourself," but now because it's "public" this Facebook thing you're supposed to be yourself on.... Yeah.... I honestly can't believe how stupidly important a Facebook profile is to something so simple as a job interview anymore.... Facebook is LinkedIn.... They finally found a way to get all kinds of private information on people: voluntarily.

Moreover, very few of my friends chat on that thing. [shrugs]

Additionally, my boss is squeezing more labor out of me on the weekends, essentially unpaid, because he doesn't see it as a big deal. The paperwork, book keeping and management has paralyzed his office for 4 months. I'm going to have to propose that he hire and actually pay me to do it, through the client or something. His cheap ass response will likely be "why should I pay you shit more than I do now." [head desk] This kind of illegal thing happens all the time, all over, but it's not a good job market out there, so people effectively have no remedy.

There aren't enough jobs for me to apply for to get out of here fast enough :P....

The problem is if they can't fire you one way they'll fire you another. At-Will Employment sucks. Moreover, if you damage your own employer (even and especially when they deserve it), you often lose yourself. [sigh]

On another note: I keep telling people who are turning 65 to sign up for medicare (government health insurance) and especially part B (doctor's fees etc) and part D (drugs). It's a complex nightmare of stuff. A.) When they eventually do apply their premiums are 10% higher per year they didn't apply when they should've. B.) They're responsible for everything medicare Part B would've covered. C.) The insurance or retirement plan they have often penalizes them for not signing up (see point "B" above), and D.) this adds up to people sometimes owing thousands of dollars in medical bills.

One of these people didn't listen to me and is now owing their doctor about $17,000. They are somewhat miffed at me for "not telling them," when they basically told me to buzz off.... No good deed goes unpunished.... :)

Truean...you're a lawyer. I know that you're too incorruptible to stoop to blackmail, but if you have concrete evidence of wrongful firing, it should be a slam dunk lawsuit.

My sad: My vocal teacher friend thinks that the flu may have damaged my vocal cords. My voice changed enough that pretty much everyone recognized it, once I actually got my voice back. ;_;

"should...."

[sigh] Unfortunately if its one thing I've learned about law, it's that it's a cruel thing that is often unfair. Let me introduce you to Haddle. Even though he eventually sorta won years later. Victory was partial and so expensive it didn't matter. Keep in mind, he was a CPA accountant who was doing exactly what he was hired to do: finding his company's  >  $10 Million Dollar Tax Fraud.... They fired him for it. We should've thrown that bastard a ticker tape parade for preventing a somewhat smaller version of Enron; not screwed him over. We screwed him over.... At will employment is a terrible thing.

If you ever end up in a law school text book, something either wonderful or terrible has happened to you. More often than not, it's the terrible thing.

As for your voice, for whatever it's worth, I'm sorry. I hope it comes back fully.

It's whatever. I'll just have to sing Bon Jovi for a while instead of Motorhead.

Yeah, it can cause minor ruptures and tears in the throat from coughing. Also, thanks, bro. You are truly bro.
