Spoiler: spoilerific rant (click to show/hide)
Believe it or not the brain actually sort of doesn't have nerves. Anything above the brain stem is incapable of "feeling" anything, ask a brain surgeon if they ever need to anaesthetise the brain itself. Although this still sounds like it was part of some sketchy science.

No, the brain has nerves. That's the whole purpose. Just nosensory nerves iirc. >.>

I think I might need to trim my nose hairs.

How does one trim nose hairs.

My sister gave my dad a nose hair trimmer for his birthday once. Sadly, he didn't get the message and thought it was just a joke.

Grab a clump with tweezers and pull, they grow back pretty quickly. I don't know about you, but I'm not sticking a razor up my nose.  :P

So I was running errands with my 5-year old daughter last night, and our discussion in the car turned to how warm and humid it's been. I make an offhand comment about how it'll be humid most nights from now till September, and of course she asks why.

I proceed to launch into an enthusiastic 5-minute long explanation of evaporation and thermal carrying capacity and how the atmosphere cools once the sun goes down, lowering the capacity of the air and increasing the relative humidity even as the total water content of the air remains the same (all kinda scaled down into simpler terms). I proudly finish up with a "and that's why it gets humid in the evening now!" and wait for a "wow" or "oh...okay" or something.

There's a long pause, and then she enthusiastically says, "Let's play the silent game the rest of the way home."  :'(

To top it off, when I glanced back about 5 minutes later, she was out cold (it was past her bedtime, but still...)

I am apparently weapons-grade boring.  :P

They make scissors explicitly for this purpose, actually. And the only thing better than sticking one razorblade up your nose is sticking two, right?

Since growing my bead, I have stopped worrying about nose hair as the boundary has become very blurred. More of a long term solution though.

Now all you need is for the boundary between beard and hair to disappear.

Managed that one months ago.

Considering it only has a handful, and those are mostly for handling head-stuff like eyes and facial muscles, I certainly wouldn't consider that it's /purpose/. And about half of them ARE sensory.

It's purpose is mostly processing via neurons, getting that information passed to the spinal column (which IS made of nerves), and letting IT take care of all the messaging.
