Okay, decided to race home - Actually, purchased a gym membership (190 dollar sign up cost for 1 month, whoo. 64 a month after that, though, which is still... a lot, but whatever), ran to train, ran from bus to home, gathered everything together, swapped into sweatclothes because I'm covered in sweat, ran back to bus stop, realize I forgot my wallet in my other pants, ran BACK home, got back to bus stop JUST as the bus was pulling up, ran from stop back to gym, hopped into gym shower room and got all prepped, changed, slid back into seat at work.

Haven't taken care of the hair - I figure I can get a haircut on the way to the date, and I barely made it back in time not to rouse suspicion.

Well done! Incidentally, if you keep dating this person for a while, the part where you bought a gym membership just to use a shower so you'd look good for your first date would probably make a good story - after the relationship is established, again.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Something I'd been meaning to do for a while anyways, truth be told. Hurrah for incentives.

Get to a goddamn hospital if you're having trouble breathing. Pneumonia is no laughing matter.
We're pretty much resigned to AoD talking about his disintegrating body in this thread and never taking the advice to do anything about it.

I must admit I stopped caring a long time ago, if the guy doesn't care enough himself, why should I?

So I just got back from my therapist, there was this psychological personality test I filled out a few months ago, the results just got back. It was really creepy how accurate that thing managed to be.
I wasn't expecting much, but wow was I surprised.

In some ways it was good, it confirmed a lot of the things I thought about myself, but thought might just maybe be in my head (if that makes sense). In other ways it was also bad, because it went over all my flaws and issues, there are a fair few, and they're not easy to deal with. Maybe I should have gotten a copy and seen if I could scan it up and show it to everyone here.

So... I saved over my hot-tempered brother's save file in X3: Albion Prelude.

I am so f**ked.
This is why I started using different memory cards/save folders/etc when I used to live with my brother.

I overwrite his FF7 save and his Grandia 1 save. Twice. For both games.
Back in the day, my sister loaded my FFVIII save, lost all my cards, and saved it again. Not as bad as teh time she copied my endgame FFIX save, beat the final boss, and gave me shit for months about how she beat the game before I did.

New roommate :(

Dunno who it is yet, but now I can't use the other half of the room to store stuff anymore.

Rule #1 of any X series game: always have multiple saves. Serves him right for only having 1 recent file.

What I would do at this point would be rename some other file as his savegame.[extension], and when it fails to open and says the save is corrupted he won't blame you.

There's something really important I've been needing to do for the last, what, four days now? I look at the task though, and every fiber of my being just doesn't want to do it. I know it's really important! I sat at my computer all this morning, just staring at my computer, waiting for something to 'click' and I'd jump into action and do it. However, all that time is spent waffling over how pathetic I am.

Then I just gave up, wanting to sooth how pathetic I feel with some base distraction. Guess I just gave up on myself for today too.

Time to ponder something amazingly fucking stupid. I saw this today:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And deep down I resent that society expects relationships to be so important. I'm also angry at myself for being so lonely, and having my feelings dominated by the thought that no one gives a shit about me, validating the need for relationships of any kind.

Guess I'm just not getting to the fourth rung any time soon. Time to go wallow in my squalor some more.

If it helps, I don't even get past the first rung. Or the second.

Hell they all have aspects that don't seem all that great to me.

100% serious here, Joshua.

Have you asked a doctor/been diagnosed with ADHD and/or depression?

ADHD sufferer here, and nothing ever "clicks" into action. I have to force myself to do crap all the time, against every fiber of my being. It's pretty hellish.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
