Blimey, Soli. I don't think that would happen to me. I dunno. I just got a fright. I hoped that us breaking up was the last I'd ever see of her so I could just go on blithely as usual, but life likes to complicate things. :P

Oh shit, just found out I'm meeting with a guy offering me an internship in... eight hours.  I need to sleep, shower, and learn how to tie a windsor knot in that timespan.  Then go in there and not make a fool of myself.  I can't decide whether I should shave my goatee (and look like shit) or leave it (and look "unprofessional").  And the guy's supposed to be super Christian, and I'm afraid if I go in there with a goatee I won't be able to stop myself from cracking a Jesus joke.

Oh shit oh shit oh shit, I have alllll the fucking anxiety right now.

I would advice a shave, personally.
This is the IT industry, they don't really care if you look like shit, at long as it is professional shit. Seriously, the place is full of the worst looking nerds you have ever seen, but they are all clean shaven with cut hair and a clean shirt...

Unless you are going for a games development studio, and in that case forget shaving, and maybe spill some coffee onto yourself.

I think being well trimmed is more important that anything.  It's a goatee, but it's a clean goatee, and I'm pretty confident in it.  Especially since trying to go clean shaven on one day's notice, I'll go in there looking like a walking radiation burn.

And as my mother said about a similar scenario, if they're uptight enough to turn you down on the spot (and in this case, for an unpaid position) over some well-kept facial hair, it wasn't going to work out anyway.

Unless we're talking Ming the Merciless lookalike here, the goatee won't hurt your chances.

Thought I had all the right materials for this one assignment, turns out I probably got the wrong stuff, then proceeded to mess up twice.  Well there goes $10 of art materials, wasted.  Isn't art school awesome?

I'm very rarely without a tie, I've just always used a 4 in hand knot.

It was nice having you around. I hope you don't come back, on account of this working out so well for you.

Agreed. Sharp and pointy rocks, remember. Toughest feet in the 'verse and now Vector is apparently a psychic warrior of some persuasion. Yeah that kind of got away from me there.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Aww, thanks! :P

I take very strongly after my northern dutch side so I have tiny, elongated, almost asiatic looking eyes. I theorise that the small eyes are an adaptation to higher climates. If you look at northern asians, northern europeans, and icelanders, they all have very small, elongated eyes. I suppose it helps to avoid the eye cooling too much?

And I ought to post a proper close up of me in the Photo Share thread just so I can show off my eyes. :D
Easily my best feature.
