Why are people so damn against paying for phone calls to get answers from an attorney?
[rant]
Look, lady, you are buying legal advice and representation. Think about it, if answers over the phone were free but you had to pay for them if you came into my office, then everyone would just call and tie up my phone line all fucking day, cause it'd be free. I'd make no money while doing shit tons of work.... Not only that, but screw you, the phone thing saves you the trip to my office.... It is actually more convenient for you.... Not me. Further, I charged you for the actual amount of time spent on the phone, 5 minutes; do you realize that other attorneys "round up to the quarter" hour? This means if you spend 5 minutes on the phone with them, then they bill you for 15 minutes. If we're talking about a $200/hour rate, then it's the difference between about $16.60 ((200/60) x 5) and $50 (200/4). You're literally gonna try to bitch me out over less than $20?
Go find yourself another lawyer who will spend time with you on the phone solving your complex real estate boundary problems for free. No, get out, and I don't wanna hear you calling me a fraud again.... If you're too stupid to understand that I'm doing you a favor by charging $16.60 instead of $50, then screw you. I know every other lawyer in town and that's what they'd charge, minimum for that call. [rant/]
Why do I bother? I should just charge what everyone else does. I can't believe I get bitched at when I'm charging less. I'm sorry your neighbor built his house partially over land you own. Didn't cause it; not gonna fix it for free. You'll be lucky to come out of this for under $3000-$5000 with another lawyer and I'm basically doing it for $2000....
