Max, get some money and move down to Melbourne. It's a beautiful place and there's a fair few Bay Twelvers down there.

"If you don't like it, get out of my country!" only less articulate.

Hey, that's OUR schtick! Thieving Aussies.... :P

We don't steal culture! We distill and improve upon it! That's the idea at least.

We distill and improve upon it!
That's redundant. Increasing the alcohol content automatically improves it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Wait, I thought that was the Japanese. "We don't make things, we make them better. And smaller. And then figure out a way to involve schoolgirls in sailor suits."

They refuse to even let me get a job, for fear that I will start earning the money to move out I'm guessing.

This is creepy to me. How old are you? If you're of age, start looking for work. You could always spin it like, "I want to contribute to the household" and throw a couple bucks their way while saving most of it for freedom.

Max's thing is... sort of similar to my situation, except mix in a crippling fear of the outside world.

Saw some posts I wrote only half a year ago.  Boy, have I changed.

I'm kind of glad I always seem to be self-improving.  Some of my old posts completely clash with my current self.  Any kind of Random LOL XD humor I see kills me.

Once I read through a resurrected thread thinking it was a new thread and saw an old post I made, then thought "WTF? Did someone hijack my account, I didn't post that and it certainly doesn't sound like me."

Then I realized the thread was extremely old.

I've changed in a lot of ways... I'm not sure if all of them were good ways.

Hey, I see it as character growth.  If I look down on the me from as little as 10 months ago then that means I must be better now.  Unless of course I've just moved sideways to a position that happens to hate my old position, but I tend to ignore that possibility.

I, on the other hand, will often look for things online, read something about, go "wow, this guy really knows he's talking about", and then realize it was something I myself posted many years ago.

That's actually probably more a bad thing than a good thing.

I'm still as annoying as ever though, self improvement is overrated.
