Ya can only hope he gets the most realest job ever then.
Cleaning snakes out of the water main?
Leading to the formation of his next band, Snakes 'n' Barrels.  :P

Snakes in the water main.
Snakes on a crane.
Snakes clinging to a weather vane.
Snakes in your chow mein (now they're on the food chain).
Snakes drowned in champaign.
Snakes on cocaine (although it's kinda inhumane).
Snakes in Ukraine.
Snakes on a Great Dane (belonging to John Mccain).
Snakes falling down the drain.
Snakes on an air lane (yes it happened again).
"Snakes" written by Mark Twain.
Snakes in the public domain.
Snakes everywhere, when you've got snakes on the brain.

It's just insane.

I hate trig.  The rest of the physics homework was pretty easy, but there's two problems that involve trig, including one which the professor said took him half a page of trig identities to solve.  I don't know what it is, but I've just never had a good feel for which identities to use.  I'll also have less time to work on it because the Society of Physics students meets tonight... and philosophy club...and game development club...and the College Democrats...and BOTH Chinese clubs....You'd think they'd at least try to put the Chinese clubs at different times.

I'm also feeling...strange.  I can't really describe it, but it's kind of like what stress over having too much homework feels like.  But I'm pretty sure that it's not due to homework.  I suspect it has to do with my social awkwardness and lack of experience with human relationships.  I wouldn't care if it weren't making me physically ill at times, and if one of the possible reasons for it didn't have fairly major consequences...

I really should stop worrying about it.  It's probably just my stomach reacting to drinking more caffeine. :P

I thought the managers were supposed to screw over the artists? God damn it I must be doing it wrong again!

Welcome to the world of Rock 'n' Roll, where the frontman really is the band and he knows it and does not give a shit.

Why he'd be planning to walk away from the good life for a "real job" I can't imagine, but why do frontmen do any of the crazy shit they do?

Yeah, this is unfortunately the CEO attitude that's killing the US currently. He's a good musician, and he's cute so people like him, but he's nothing without the rest of the band. They in turn are nothing without him. I throw myself in there somewhere, because I make sure they get paid (and sue if they don't) and book gigs and take care of all the shit he doesn't know how to do. Booking a gig is nothing compared to dealing with the owner who has decided he's going to weasel down the price $500 less than he agreed to for bullshit reasons, despite the house being packed. Dude has no idea how to deal with that, short of threatening to either leave or physically harm owner, and neither of these do anything good. I on the other hand will sue and put a lien on his club or levy other property after they play the set.

I shouldn't be taking this personally, but I consider him a friend: something I have few of. He won't let me in; he won't let me fix whatever's wrong. He's not talking to me and is instead pushing me away. God damn it, I've known you for years and I've never let you down. I'm not doing this for solely for the measly couple grand I get a year from it. Why won't you let me help you...? Why are you pushing me away and insulting me...?

I feel immensely sad because it feels like everything is falling apart despite my best efforts and against its own interests. You'd rather destroy yourself and your friends/band than let me fix it...?

Do remember that whole 'let me fix it' thing is what prefaces a lot of abusive relationships. Considering your line of work, I'd imagine you run into that a lot :-\ Not saying the interaction between you two is abusive, mind, just noting the parallel. It's just a very dangerous line of thought to take when dealing with other humans, no matter how well intentioned. Especially for the one trying to fix things :(

You've made the offer, done what you can. You can't actually stop someone from ruining themselves and the people around them if they don't want to stop. You try to engender that desire if you can, but if that fails... better to contain the fallout as well as possible than try to stop a ship already sunk :(

In more mundane sadness, I'm about to go to sleep. Is about eight o'clock at night, which wouldn't be so bad if I slept a full eight hours, but the last half dozen or so times I've tried this I woke up between eleven and midnight, which honestly kinda' sucks, because it leaves me either going to sleep again at like six or seven (and sleeping 'till around noon) or completely frakking wrecked around and past midday. I hate needing to sleep, so much.

Today's been a generally bad day. In addition to my already insufferable amount of health problems, I've been aching everywhere.

Not only that, I've been getting progressively worse and worse in school, not to mention everything else. Social awkwardness and mental issues galore.

I'll just go back into my sea of apathy. It's much more relaxing and less difficult.

A side effect of living a total lie is not having a lot of or any emotional fulfillment/support. The best I've been able to do is sort of channel this and use it as best I can. I'm aware it won't work forever, is a losing game, and a lie to myself. It's part of the reason many transsexuals also suffer from depression and associated mood disorders, as do I. This is yet another lovely part of being transsexual in a culture that's bigoted against that... [shrug]. These lies are something I should never have to deal with, but they're really the only option presently, or perhaps forever. Who knows.

There's also some rational self interest there, as I am getting paid for this and would like that to continue. I did sort of build this band from a garage to a career for four musicians over the course of several years. It's lovely to know that one guy can fuck that up for himself and the other four people involved.

Then of course there's the loss of a friend, or perhaps the realization that I've been used and he may never have liked me at all in any way.

We had to do speeches in public speaking.  Specifically, we received a fortune cookie and had to give an impromptu speech somehow related to the cookie's message.

I was expecting mine to be something vague and I was going to do a speech on cold reading.

"You will reach the top of your business or profession"

Great.

I would have talked about being a highlander.

Or a pokemon trainer.

And put quotes from the theme into it.

Could it be pressure from his family?  Do they disapprove of the small-time rock star gig?

Theoretically possible and illogical, but not impossible. It wouldn't make sense, because it's not like he can really get other employment. There's not a whole lot else he can do and it isn't like they'd support him. That said, maybe?

.... To elaborate, nothing's happened between us ever. He's quite straight.

It's just something I could imagine parents with traditional "hard-working" values doing.  "When are you going to get a real job?  It's great that you can get away with partying all the time like this, but it's not going to last forever.  Settle down and lead a real life.  Contribute something real to society."  Etc.  If he's giving in to that kind of pressure, I can imagine him being ashamed to admit what's going on.  Just grasping at the only thing that didn't seem ruled out to me as a possible lead to understand what he's up to.  Sounds like a sad situation.  Could also just be burnout.  I've heard this kind of thing happens a lot.  Local band starts getting big, and for whatever reason, there's always a couple members that can't handle the lifestyle.  Of course I know absolutely nothing about this guy, so sorry if nothing I'm saying really makes sense.

Possible I guess. It's something to consider if nothing else, and the point is you're trying. I do appreciate it.

As much as I would like to saddle up my white Charger, heft my lance, and ride down all your problems, that would be incredibly silly and not possible.

Hard times happen. I'm having some hard times myself; not a day goes by that more reasons for me to worry don't pile up, and more things I want or need to do get left undone. I'm feeling withdrawn, largely powerless to affect things going wrong in the world around me, bad things affecting people I care about, and the crappy situation I've personally landed in.

For now, I'm trying to recognize that, whether a matter of days or years, bad times pass. Just keep doing things to take care of yourself, and if you see a problem take steps (no matter how small) toward addressing and changing them for the better. Break your challenges up into little goals, and try to meet them one after another. Keep at it, and before you know it you'll have gotten yourself to a better place. Just keep at it... and don't let yourself lose sight of your goals.
