A quick skim of those and related articles didn't really make me feel any better.

In fact it made me feel a lot worse.

Fuck.

At least I have a name to put to it.

I'm a complete idiot for doing it, but a.) I seem to live as a messenger with a bullseye taped to my back and b.) when have I ever backed down from a bad idea though fear and common sense say otherwise.... Note the lack of question mark.

You do realize that there totally is someone who is not only gay but in a wheel chair thinking: who the fuck is ever going to love me when I'm like this? They are very sad at this thought, because they cannot come up with an answer....

The only problem with things like this is you have to make sure you love the person rather than just that one thing about them. Too many people don't follow this rule and it goes bad really, really quick. That is, you have to love the person and the thing in question and not just the thing in question.

As long as you follow this rule, then you might be the answer to that question that is so damn terrible not to have an answer for that they have asked....

Descan, if it helps, I've got a thing for old guys.  Like, 40 years older than me old (i.e. almost 3x my age); I swear, I'm the only person I know for whom whitening hair is a turnon.  Somehow, I feel much closer to them than to young men.  Maybe its because so many more of them tend to be reserved, which I find enormously attractive because it allows me to be reserved; maybe it's because I feel like older men expect more out of me not in terms of superficialities, but as a person.  They're centered.  And, usually, their sense of humor tends to be more gently mischievous than cruel.  All the good points of brilliant young men with the cruel edges and burning anxiety sanded off.

@Truean, I think that part of it is that Raiden is another way of examining a similar idea.  If this were a game made by Kojima, I would fully expect his actions to have negative ramifications.  Raiden is more of an "open personality" than Snake is--more extroverted, I guess, or more easily attached, more aggressively emotional, something.  That's why he has a wife and a child and plenty of human relationships, why he can turn destructive tendencies outwards instead of just turning in indefinitely: it doesn't matter how mechanical you make his body, how much you try to excavate his mind, attached is just the way he is.  Snake dealt with his problems in a certain way because he was never able to reach out.  Raiden clings to things too easily, while Snake too easily just lets go.

And so, what I'm trying to say is that if Kojima were still doing most of the work quality-controlling this game, I'd be completely unworried about the new direction that the series is taking.  They told Snake's story, that's fine.  Seriously, it's all been told.  Don't need any more.  And after 2, this is the only direction it made sense to go in.

Ahhh... actually, I've read a bunch more press releases, and it looks like it could be a very good game.  I'm a little bit excited.

Apparently they're doing a gritty reboot of Devil May Cry.  Why?  Of all the series to completely change, why Devil May Cry?

If you mean that reboot where Dante is an anorexic junkie, then that reboot was in development a long time ago.

Seriously, they didn't need to do that; Dante was cool enough as it is.

Here's hoping they're not going to butcher the series.

Committing a lot of stupid mistakes because it's hard to pay attention while you're coughing your lungs out and sneezing. Or care, for that matter.

Knowing Capcom, they'll probably release it as a first person shooter or something.

And here I was thinking that the DMC series was already one committed to doing the completely unnecessary but cool things genre.

My school websites have gone done suddenly this morning. Multiple ones. The big solar flare was supposed to arrive this morning.

COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT.

Thanks, but I often wonder if I am.

Ahhh... actually, I've read a bunch more press releases, and it looks like it could be a very good game.  I'm a little bit excited.

Tactical release differences; story again and also experience; I tend towards slightly older guys

I hope it is a good game. It's fine that they are moving away from one character and towards another. However, my point is that they are keeping the series title due to name recognition. That name recognition carries with it certain expectations. If they're met, then that recognition is deserved and made greater. If those expectations aren't.... Then it might be better as a branch game (see FFVII Dirge of Cerberus holding Cloud's story being told Vincent should get his own branch game). Thereby the branch game uses the main game title's recognition while acknowledging the difference to avoid missed expectations. FFVII was largely a sort of RPG element game where parts of FFVII DoC were actually a shooter. It's a matter of how you manage the tie the differences in order to happily manage fan expectations.

I see what they did with snake, his personality was very close to his sneakiness. He's reserved and so is his attack style. I guess they could be trying to do the same thing with the other guy being more overt and thus so is his attack style. However, I really hope they do homages to the old game. I want those stupid radio calls we laugh at. Heck, I think it'd be funny as hell if they gave you a box you could chose to hide in as an extra/Easter egg homage. It would be completely unnecessary/out of place for Radien and that's the point. I just hope it's not a "you can cut anything and that's it," game. Though this mechanic might be nice and I hope it is, I also hope it isn't all the game has.

As for men, yeah I go for those a little older than me, because I'm less about partying and being crazy. Never was for that honestly. Oftentimes, they're nicer to me, but unfortunately this isn't a guarantee of that.... Basically it really is at least partially about non physical characteristics. :)

Knowing Capcom, it will be released for a gimmicky system and stay Japan-only forever.

I got a hold of my car loan company and managed to get them to cancel the nearly $6k check I wrote them to pay off the car I don't want or need. I am sure they will be happy to collect normal payments and hundreds of dollars of interest for a few months more.

I did this so I will have the money to deal with the fallout if my little sister loses her job next month. Now I have the option of staying in debt longer and renting/buying a larger house so my sister, mother and stepfather have a place to stay for who knows how long. And while I love my family, we have very little in common, and getting tied down here isn't going to be good for my career.

On the plus side, my melancholy has direction again.

I have to drop a class because I'm not going to learn anything in it; it was my only humanities course.  I'm not sure what to do now.
