Anonymous is fucking with my shit today. Some of DOJ's public-facing sites are getting spammed by TCP requests from Warner Brothers' server.

I'd say "Well played", except I don't like being played.
I assume this is "Some jackass is hogging the neighborhood line?"

Based on what we're seeing, our guess is that they've hacked a webserver over at WB and are using it to spam HTTP requests for every file on the DOJ webserver, thousands of times a second. Net result is that it ties up both ends and in fact, WB is probably looking at their incoming server traffic and thinking they're been spammed by DOJ.

I'm sad because of the inevitable realization that I need to go to college to meet people and do things at my age, but I lack the money, motivation, and direction to actually manage going to college.

You make a good point. Napoleon was considered one step away from the Antichrist by his contemporaries, and now he's just a funny short guy with one hand stuck inside his coat.
Beter than poor King Lous XIV. His attempts to take over the world are completely forgotten, despite being more successful than Napoleon was.

More seriously, Napoleon was feared mostly for his battle prowess and his ambition. He never was known for atrocities. Leaders who were well known for them in their own time tend to have their exploits exaggerated in popular history.

Try finding a job. Depending on its particulars, it'll provide you with either with money(if it's reasonably well-paid) or motivation for going to college(if it's shitty and getting you nowhere), or maybe even people your age(if you're lucky).

I managed to go through five and a half years of college and made exactly zero lasting friendships there and "did" almost nothing.  I know the TV wants to make you feel like you're being left out, but trust me, you're not.  Unless you were planning to go to a party school, in which case you're basically paying forty grand for a long vacation.

Even if the people you want to meet are at college, it doesn't mean that you have to attend that college to meet them. I went to SDSU, but most of my friends from my college days all went to UCSD since I got involved in a club there (the SCA). So it may work just as well to find a job in a city you like and then look for activities on the local campus that interest you. You'll meet new people and hopefully make friends.

(Acronyms: SDSU is San Diego State University, UCSD is University of California San Diego, and SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronism)

Ditto. College and law school didn't get me a lot of lasting friends. I made a couple handfuls, but only because I was willing to go out and talk. All those commercials you see about colleges, fakes. Overwhelming fakes. They show the picture of all those kids having fun together and certainly imply that you could be one of the people in that picture. The reality is, you show up completely not knowing what the hell to do as a disoriented freshman who helped not at all by "orientation."

Honestly, you wanna make friends? I sincerely recommend these people: http://www.toastmasters.org/

You won't like it at first and that's the whole point. They will help you speak to people by pushing your comfort zones a little. You'll do speeches, little ones at first, and then slowly do longer ones. Moreover, everyone there is trying to learn how to talk to people and you're a people. A person.... Whatever. So they'll talk to you.

I'm imagining they'll probably be in their later 20s or 30s for some and far older for many but who cares?

Depends where you go, and for what. RIT's Game Development Lab has a couple dozen people in it at any given time,  and is used both for the large number of group projects we are assigned and to hang out in and play games. People will help you debug your code, give you tips, ect. There are board and card games played in there usually every day, with a very occasional late-night movie on the projector. So, yeah, college can be as good or better than it's made out to be, you just need to find a place with the right atmosphere to it.

I was going to consider going to Columbus, moving into a shitty living space, getting a shitty job (or two), meeting a bunch of shitty people, but perhaps meeting one or two nice ones. But I'm really not sure I can do that... or anything like that really.

Maybe I'm just not ready to enter Plato's cave.

I'm more reminded of a 90s dark age comic book.

Something with blood or death or vengeance in the title.

You remember that weird beat-em-up thing Snake dreams about in MGS3?  Ever seen Kojima's mecha games?  He's clearly wanted to make a high-adrenaline overblown action-fighter for a while now, and finally gets his chance.

Pity it looks like total crap.  And that all that work for cinematically realistic swordplay produced a Battletoad's level of sophistication.  Raiden's secret sword skill appears to be going into high-speed camera mode and swinging his sword really fast without moving in the slightest.

I meant cheesy in the "how serious it takes itself but how ridiculous it looks" way.
