My mom really wasn't expecting me to turn into this much of a tomboy, much less one who spends so much time in places she doesn't consider "the real world."  As for hand-eye coordination, I'd probably be told to play violin or practice kendo (or play badminton, or play catch, or...)
How does playing an instrument involve other people?

(BTW: There's a fun kendo game in the Wii. :)

And yes, describing yourself in writing is immensely hard and a soul-crushing experience, especially to an entity you're trying to impress.
I've always been unable to do it, at least seriously. I'd probably just wind up starting with "Hi, I'm X, I hate Piña coladas but I do like walks in the rain, I know some Tae Kwon Do, but since I'm something of a pacifist, you're unlikely to find me Kung Fu fighting (I find the prospect a little bit frightening). etc."

How does playing an instrument involve other people?

Provides entertainment for them.

Weather forecast says it's going to warm up again.

Damnit weather, make up freaking mind. GET COLD ALREADY. And stay like that. More than a week.

Florida weather depresses me.

Would have to learn to drive on them, but by the gods I'd happily trade you 110 in the shade avec 90 something percent humidity for frozen roads. I'd even sell you 70+ degree winters at a small markup, were it in my power.

Blaaaaarghhhhh writing a statement for uni application is so fucking hard.

Also, either Neonivek or Aq gotta post more, I want my place as the number ⑨ back.
You don't have to be sincere about this stuff. Just write up some generic stuff that makes it look like you're humble yet a hard-working, family values guy.

Don't worry, we have to re-learn to drive on them every year.  And hey, I'll even throw in the snow-covered driveway, sidewalk, patio, and 100 meter long pathway to the dog just so I don't have to plow them.  The driveway is big, too.  I still wouldn't trade winter for your weather, though.  I like my four seasons more than your wet and dry seasons.

Family values are something corporate executives and politicians use to endear themselves to the public.  When the roles are reversed, they're more likely to be seen as a liability.

So, chocolate and cottage cheese do not go well together, surprising no one.

In related news, it turns out there is only so much chocolate kijafa you can add to hot chocolate before the milk curdles.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Nah, people love that stuff.

Tell that to any working parent.  Employers hate families, at least large corporate ones do.
