carbon monoxide and gas leaks often go together.

The CO is caused by burning the gas at to low of a temperature, and that can be one of the effects of a gas leak.

From what I know there is no lace agent for carbon monoxide. As for a true smell I can't explain, I just know like co2 o2 and he2
I don't think you could lace it as it's a by product of burning the gas, so you couldn't really add anything to it unless your furnace has some kind of device to do so....

Well my procrastinating ways has caught up with me.  I have 60 drawings to finish for ONE class in a few weeks time.  I had about about a month ago to start on them, and naturally never got around to it until now x.X

I know that natural gas lines have a harmless chemical added to them to give them a distinctive smell if they leak. I'm not sure if you can do the same for Co or not.

... since when are there CO lines?

Actually, I'll cut down the sarcasm and ellaborate straight off: CO is a product of combustion in low oxygen environments (eg: an enclosed oven). As such, it isn't channeled in from anywhere, and there's noone to add any smelly chemical to it.

I wasn't saying there are CO lines, I was saying if there were a way to give CO an artificial scent.

Not in the privacy of your own oven.

CO is just a result of combustion with oxygen content too low for the carbon to fully bond into CO2; wherever the CO2 is released, there also goes to CO. Adding a smell to that would be pretty much pointless, as it gets released outside into open air anyway; a scent strong enough to determine a leak within the house would probably just make your yard stink.

So opium smells just like raisins. This is sad because it is also sticky and thus annoying to clean up. Fortunately I work at a place well-stocked with rubbing alcohol, which dissolves it well, but still. Just to be clear, I just work at a pharmacy and this spill occurred in the course of my regular duties, due to a poorly-sealed bottle (a problem I afterward resolved).

So no need to arrest me, police.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I didn't know they still stocked opium at pharmacies.

Neither did I. Aside from this patient, the last time we dispensed it apparently was in like March. It doesn't get used often, is my point, and we probably only carry it because we are a fricking enormous hospital.
