I've done some research on this.

What you are suggesting is Water fasting, and doing it for 31 whole days. This is a really, really bad idea and you absolutely must not do it. I cannot stress enough how bad of an idea it is to fast for 31 days. Seasoned, experienced fasters, can do 14-20 days with no serious damage, and only under supervision. A beginner won't be able to take a week. What you're suggesting is a step way, WAY too far. You can seriously injure yourself from fainting after standing up too fast, you can kill yourself if you pick up any pathogens, you can totally ruin your future prospects as your lack of food dismantles your grades/loses you your job.

Seriously, SERIOUSLY, DO NOT, NOT do this. This is as serious as I've ever been on these forums, NOTE THE CAPS, THIS MEANS THIS IS BAD.

You realize that fruit isn't all that low-cal, right? Those that are "juicy" (overwhelmingly water, basically) are typically the lower calorie ones, but a banana (for instance) typically has about 100 calories. Sweet fruits are basically sacks of sugar genetically engineered to taste delicious, you know. Brief research suggests that a single serving of lean beef, or chicken breast (I figure that "lean meat" typically refers to one of these two, but feel free to correct me), has between 200 and 250 calories. That doesn't necessarily rule out your statement, but it does make me a bit suspicious.

At any rate, everything Heliman said is correct. Listen to this man, he is trustworthy.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Grimshot, take the Muslim Ramadan fasting as an example. It's 20-30 something days, but the rules of it is just that they are not allowed to eat during the day, which means they'll still have supper once the sun goes down (or something) and they'll have breakfast before dawn as well. And I believe Ramadan is mainly meant to humble/give experience in how it is to be poor. The point is, if you want to do that, and I still think it is a noble goal to try to understand how less fortunate people have it, but you might want to start by simply eating less for a short time, preferably easing down the content so your body doesn't panic and go into "OMG I MUCH LESS FOOD THAN USUAL I'M STARVING RED ALERT QUICKLY GO INTO NUTRITION AND ENERGY CONSERVATION MODE or otherwise screws itself (and you) up.

I've had serious thought about fasting myself, as a "personal journey" (or whatever else pretentious name one could call it) as I find insatiable hunger - spiritual and material - to be one of the biggest flaws with myself and modern society in general, but since I know how bad it can be for me I planned on having several (shorter to begin with, to get to know what I would be dealing with) periods spread out over years, all including time set aside for gradial decrease and increase of the amount of food I eat. Of course, it hasn't come to anything more than fantasising and light planning, but still.

The question every patriot must ask himself is: Are you willing to sacrifice your daily rations so that the Glorious Leader can pee in a solid gold chamberpot?

It's better than having Glorious Leader pee in your rations, at least.

True patriots don't need rations anyway. They get their nourishment from basking in the Glorious Leader's  presence.

Oh, you know what I meant. Al-Shaba'ab certainly aren't helping the famine (which was caused by drought).

And their children will grow strong under his radiant smile. Hold them high towards his portrait!

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Oh aye, Merchant. I hate the heat. I'm happiest in the winter. I would love the summer if it weren't for the stinking heat. It's still spring but today was 30C and tomorrow is 32C - two years ago it got 46C in the city. I just about died.

I don't regulate temperature very well, so summer for me is spent indoors drinking foul hydrolytic solution. I'm european-by-descent and I've lived in Australia all my life, and yet I can't take the heat... Honestly, my best mate who came from the north of England finds it easier on hot days than I do.

If it were up to me I'd go live in Europe or the northern parts of America.
