Firefox is becoming nearly unusable due to constant random freezes. Roughly every 5-10 mintes, Firefox will lock up completely for thirty to sixty secodns.
That happens to me all the time on ubuntu, but not windows.

It's the biggest reason I'm usually on windows.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Well, I use windows, so that's not the problem.

It's only partially because I'm a fan. I established numerous times that I don't want disturbances while watching this. the second reminder causing her to decide "Huh, seems he gets really pissed when you talk during this. I had better say all the words now."

She has a consistent habit of pushing buttons and questioning why you are angry and calling you pathetic for it and how she is the victim there. It's been going on for years and I can't put up with that bullshit anymore.

You seem to misunderstand and think that this kind of behavior is something everyone can adapt to. No the problem here is you know she's talkative and you act like a dick over it.

Dumb webcomic flashes aren't worth snapping at family members over.

I don't intend to since it seems to create or attract that kind of behavior, homestuck in general I mean. I don't wanna associate myself with that kind of behavior or people...

I understand that snapping over some animation is a petty thing and I really shouldn't do it. This is a fault I understand and am facing to make sure I don't become rude over this.

This stuff has happened before though. The appropriate response to when somebody is worked up is to do what you did, gently let them down and calmly point out the silliness of the situation. My sister has no concept of that, she just bluntly makes you feel like crap. Making people feel like crap when they are worked up over an irrational thing will just work up that person more.

RE: the topic: This very quote.

Not for the sentiment of not liking the comic -- plenty of people I respect don't read it -- but for the flatly leveled insult to a broad spectrum of people.

*shrug*

I like it quite a bit myself, but I do have my own troubles with rabid fans from every fandom.  It's like those people who are just going to show you some little part of a video game or something and then keep on playing, you know?  You never get a chance to meet that fun thing on your own terms.  You have to fit into someone else's puzzle-piece vision of how you should relate to one of their favorite things.

(I say this as someone who used to really have this problem, though luckily I think I've been beginning to grow out of it)

Hey I know people who read it CAN be good people. Just the way it started going seemed to start encouraging this strange obsession over it in ways that most things end up with inadvertently. That's mostly what I mean.

I could be wrong about it though but that's just my opinion in how it eventually ended up. I do admit I used to follow it damn closely. And at that the first time I binged and hit the most recent update I was pretty bummed.

The explanation makes me less sad, so ... well, I'd better move on out of this topic with my lack of it.

I could always default to the usual answer of "It wasn't about the thing itself, it was me asking for something and them defying it the first chance they got." I think for any other medium I would be pretty miffed about it and get worked up but not start as the state I was already in.

I totally understand being a fan over something and getting too into something, to the point where one starts to alienate their friends and family and treat them like dirt. I don't wish to approach that stage.

My view on the subject: I've been many the victim of people not respecting personal space and then getting offended when called out on it. Apparently asking to be talked to later is more disrespectful than expecting someone to give you their full attention for anything and at any time.

There's always some lack of respect in these situations, and it can be either or both sides. Don't automatically assume either way.

Yeah, I think I just needed to post here to get my head around the idea that my sister meant no disrespect and was somehow clueless to why I was worked up, besides the subject at hand.

Although she does say thing in response that make me question the more rational, calm answers. Like when she notices that I'm a little worked up.
"Why are you angry? You are angry over this? why are you angry over this? That's a dumb reason. It just doesn't make any sense!"

I would supplement this with the tone she uses but I realize that is a subjective enough things that she could easily not intend to give those words that specific tone. But it does feel very accusational and dismissive of the idea that I want something a certain way.
