I'm sure you had your head just as far up your ass when you were a freshman. Five years from now, you'll be looking at people five years younger than you and wondering how they can be so immature. It's the way of things.

Freshman. . . .I swear they get worse every fucking year. I was never informed that Biology was for college bound underclassmen. I flew through the integrated classes in two years, and then found out that the so called "advanced" classes were supposed to start during your freshman year. . . . and nobody told me.. . .until the finally saw the quick progress I was making. Dear god biology teacher, put me in advanced biology, please! I can't handle an entire semester with these perpetually immature fucks! Gah! I'm so oblivious to all information that isn't hand fed to me, and I am suffering for it! In summary:Fuck all of the increasingly immature underclassmen. Grow the Fuck up. Thank You. Man, I wasn't even that bad as a freshman. Or even as a little 6th grader. What in the hell, modern society?
OS is a very serious issue.

Today is a terrible day to be bisexual.

I assume this comment will be explained soon in Progressive Rage?

Nah.  I don't know about the person in question's sexual orientation, is why.  It would be easier if I weren't attracted.  Oh, well... I'm inviting her and some other friends to my house next Sunday for tea, dinner, and conversation, so there's always that.  Maybe I'll try to suss things out.

Also, I have a sore throat.  And it turns out that the super-autistic guy I know is also super-Catholic in the vaguely scary way, i.e. I didn't think people were quite that dogmatically religious anymore.

Well, as long as it keeps him happy and he doesn't hurt people, okay :I

Good luck with both acquiring useful knowledge on Sunday, and overcoming that sore throat. You might try gargling a screwdriver, depending on the type of sore throat you've got.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

There are quite a few. It comes as a shock if you haven't been exposed to it in your usual environment, but you get used to it quickly.

The trick is in avoiding the berserk button questions.

Haha, I've never had alcohol before in any real quantities, so that might not be a good idea.  Thanks, though.  Hope springs eternal <3

Okay, this is unrelated, but while reading around wikipedia, I discovered this thing. Having read about it, I'm semi-confident that there was one of these growing at my elementary school. The bush had sort of tunnels in it large enough for a child to walk through. I loved it, but never ate the berries - turns out I could've, if I'm right. They cut it down sometime after I left the school. Gah. Nostalgia again.

EDIT: Yeah, I'd spit it out in any case, but if it's bacterial and localized in your throat then the alcohol plus the acidity would be handy for killing things. Far from certain, though, and probably irritating to prepare since I doubt you have vodka lying around. The more important thing, possibly, is Sunday, and I hope it turns out to be awesome all around!

yeah, around here it's traditional to make shitty homemade liquor by filling a pot with berries with a high grade alcoholic bewerage which I don't like at all.

There are always going to be people who believe in something to the point that it becomes detrimental to the people around them :/

I wouldn't have such an issue with it if it weren't the only thing he posted about on Facebook =/  I rarely see him and he's a fellow math major (and also difficult to talk to on the fly when I do see him, due to aforementioned severe autism), so I friended him... turns out he doesn't talk about anything but Catholicism, liturgy, anti-abortion stuff, and so on.

So yup.

Wait, so he actually talks about the things he finds interesting/important?

Isn't that one of the symptoms of autism, that the affected find it hard to do anything out of their interest streams?

I was expecting him to talk about nothing about programming, actually--that's how I've known him.  That's why I'm so shocked.

I've got no problem with people having obsessive, focused interests, even on things I don't like or only distantly know about.  Part of my family is Catholic, so it's not like I'm going "fie!  Fie!"  But religion... well, I'll just say that it was a surprise ':I

It is now 1:50 PM here. Mom still hasn't come home yet (forgot to mention that her boss detained her in the police station, illegally, since they didn't sue her first before bringing her there.), and I don't know about what exactly is happening over there.

I hope she's okay...
