My notes seem so unecessary. On the other hand the lecturer may not be telling anything noteworthy.
I don't know. My strong side has always been literature. May as well do that properly.

At least the crowds don't seem to bother me. That's something.

Almost everyone in the dorm is now sick with a really persistent cold. It's was hitting our professors earlier, and some of their voices were so hoarse that they had to skip class.

If we get it as bad as some of our professors did we are gonna be in some deep shit.

Still, it's a good thing I'm not- *Cough*

Fuck.

Was completely exhausted yesterday by the time I got home from work (where I kept dozing off).  Couldn't stay up past 4 am.  So I set the alarm for 7 am and laid down for a nap.

Didn't wake up for the alarm.  Completely failed to get my kid to school today.  This is why I normally stay up for it.

Got 11 hours of sleep.  Not used to feeling this way.  Can't focus on work.

Uncomfortably... large... volume... of Heidegger...

Feh.  Still, I feel pretty good today.  I slept well, and when I go home I'll be able to eat well and clean up my room so it'll be easier to think and meditate in.  I just have to hold on until then.

Gave up the telemarketing.  At least for today.  Instead, I went to a job fair and applied to be a cashier at a liquor store, or a bank teller.  I went to college for five years, and this is what I call promising.

I had plenty of time to do telemarketing anyway, but didn't.  I don't know what I'm doing with myself anymore.

Finished packing. Had to throw away a lot of things with sentimental value, for space purposes. Stuff I never even look at except when I move, really. The sentiment is all from a time in my life that I want to move past and leave behind, except for the lessons I've learned since, so maybe it's for the best, but still. Memories.

I'm keeping some of the things from even earlier, though. What I wouldn't give for a day of my life from back when I could just sit in my basement, playing Monster Rancher 2 or Chrono Trigger, and the only concern I ever had was homework I'd get done in 10 minutes anyway, and what I'd get from this disk I snuck out of my parents' CD collection... Just one day, though. I like my life as a general thing today more than I did then, but that beautiful simplicity to life is appealing right now. Even if it probably is just a nostalgia-filled lie.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Today I finished Firefly and watched Serenity.  Damn good, but it's in the sad thread because IT'S OVER  :'(
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The movie was one of the best I've ever seen.  Genuinely tense and scary, even knowing who's going to die beforehand.

Still not feeling particularly well having not got a good days sleep due to fever. Not feeling so guilty about taking tonight off work.

Oh god, my mom was just accused by one of her bosses of stealing from the company. The nerve, they won't pay her separation fees, now, they're accusing her of theft?
The same thing happened to my mum recently. It's all worked out for the best in her case and I hope it does in your mum's case too.

Raging Bull is a movie that will tear your heart out and eat it.  Multiple times.  Just makes you wonder about the kind of people who are self-destructive, destructive to those around them, and are simply clueless about the harm they cause.  Even when they lose everything around them, it's like they can't just wake up and see the needs of others.

Steve Jobs gains one seventh of a life for every person who believes he died every time they believe it. After that last time, he became effectively immortal, so if he is alive this time he becomes a deity. If not, best wishes for his family.
