I will say right here and now that yes, I find gays to be a bit icky, but I also believe strongly in their right to do what they want.

I agree with this statement. I wouldn't want to live in a world where we were only permitted to do things that were in good taste. I'd have to find all new hobbies.

Additionally, orientation is ultimately irrelevant, even more so than the world in general, so why should I give a damn?

When confronted about my "orientation", I usually say something to the effect of, "If you don't want to sleep with me, why do you care?"

Even if it's not actually there, it's there in spirit, and that's enough to be super-manly.

If I knew it would bother you, I wouldn't bring a date. I try my best to not make people uncomfortable. Unless I'm facepunching them. Although, facepunching Japa would be fruitless, as his 'stache would deflect all facepunches with sheer manliness.
That seems rather counterproductive of the 'stache though, seeming as it would possibly turn it into a throatpunch instead.

Like Stalin, Japa's stache has limited sentience and mobility and can redeploy to block threats to the throat. And then crack open a beer to celebrate. (Stalin's preferred cognac.)

So, then, am I only sort of a bit icky?
Wait, what? You're a little Takei too?
I'm bi. Half Sulu, and half Kirk, if you will.

Regardless, your sexual orientation doesn't have any relevance as far as our interactions here go.

If we were to, for example, go to a restaurant together, and you brought a male date along, I'd be rather uncomfortable, though I'd try to be polite and hide it.

Why? It's his fault for feeling uncomfortable, not yours.

Politeness? A desire not to antagonize people? I know the concept is nearly dead, but....

I would find it rather insulting when people would deny themselves just because I might feel uncomfortable, as if they are implicitly stating that I'm their superior and they need my fiat to do anything.

If we ever meet in person, I'll have to remember that it'll be ok for me to wear ratty clothing and show up drunk...

Are you equating showing up drunk with showing up with the one you love?

I'm equating it with "not denying myself just because you might feel uncomfortable"

I'm getting really sick of my pills these days.
What I'm taking currently 70mg of Vivance, an ADD medication. 70mg is a LARGE dose. It keeps me focused and on the right track, but now that there's no one to police me, the side effects of the it are starting to become magnified.

First, Lack of hunger. Vivance causes a subtle feeling of nausea in your gut that makes you want to eat less. I have joked once or twice about how it's a good way to lose weight, but I've found if I'm not careful I'll only eat one full meal a day.

Second, Lack of sleep. One of Vivance's effects is that of a stimulant. It keeps you more hyper so you can pay attention easier. The side effect of this is that it keeps you going all the way into the night too. If I lose track of time at night it could be morning by the time I finally go to bed.

Third, Anxiety. The pill makes you more angsty under pressure. I don't really have someone to go talk to around where I live right now because my friends and family are on the other side of the country. Stress is at a premium right now.

Since I'm not getting enough food and sleep and I'm getting stressed nearly perpetually, my medication is running me ragged. The worst part is that if I don't use it I can't do well in class at all.

I've come to realise I'm very angry very often these days. I don't want to be like that. Gonna have to change it, somehow.

I'm not quite sure how yet, but I'm positive it's going to involve a lot of lolcats.
