I've been thinking about your predicament, Truean.  Thanks for the update.  Hoping for the best outcome for both of you.

Indeedy. I hope Truean gets some peace and freaking quiet without something horrible happening soon. I don't know how she doesn't wind up facepunching someone out of sheer rage buildup.

Truean's a bloke, mate.

And man, that sounds like one hell of shitty situation you've got there. If Karma is real, you're in for some good times ahead of you, after nearly half a year of bad as hell.

AFAIK Truean is a trans male->female that prefers to be referred to as "she". So there you go.

That was what I thought I read. I'd like to do my best to respect any label that anyone ascribes to. Except possibly religious extremists and zombies. You may have a burning desire to convert me into one of you, but that doesn't mean I can let you, even if I have to use force. :P

Will you acknowledge my vocation as a Castilian hidalgo:P

Truean, that story is..quite touching and depressing at the same time. I wish her luck in the future, and wish for the good karma to come back to you, in some way or another.
You continue to be one of my favorite people to read about on this forum, you are just an awesome person!

So long as neither one of us has to back up that claim, it's good enough for me. :P

At one point about 15% of the population of Spain were hidalgos. So I think it's about as likely (or meaningful) as claiming Genghis Khan as a direct ancestor. :p

I know we all have problems with procrastination, but I'm at a bit of a crossroads here and dunno where to continue.

when I first started school, at the end of the demister I told myself what I should improve on and what I should have done. Next year every month or so I would do the same. Next year every week I would beat myself up about what I should be doing. This year near every day I was telling myself what I should have done every time I messed up with classwork I simply ignored. Now I've reached a point where I'm telling myself what I should be doing, both for school and my social life, but I always get distracted with everything else and suddenly a 12:00pm deadline becomes a 12:00am reaction.

It wouldn't be as bad, progress and all, if my sense of urgency wasn't shot. Down to the wire and I sort of just give up on assignment now if I don't think I can make it. I've become apathetic to everything. I'm gonna need something to kick me into doing stuff and starting a chain reaction of getting better about stuff. Dunno where that is coming from though.

To my surprise, in the classic fallout weapons mod the gauss weapons are all Guns instead of energy weapons like I guessed they'd be.

Dammit. That was the whole reason I went energy weapons.

Edit: Also I wanna try some game a friend gave me and Rozy, but I know I really can't since it's not a legal copy and she doesn't approve of that kind of thing anymore.

There's a difference between being descended from Genghis Khan and actually being a khan, and there's a difference between having a knighthood and being a knight-errant. Besides, I'm not Spanish.

That's what they want you to think. Really, you are Spain.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

yeah, but claiming being a descendant of Genghis Khan and claiming being a hidalgo ( are alike in that they're both not unlikely but meaningless.

When you think about it nobility claims are inherently funny nowadays. I mean, what's the point in tracing one's ancestors to the seventeenth century or whatever? I'm pretty sure the rest of humanity must also descend from someone (barring spontaneous generation and acts-of-god) :P  ;D

Calculus homework. WHY.

I mean, within the first few problems I have already shown and sufficiently practiced integration by parts. There is absolutely no need to throw one of those stupid x^(absurd constant of appreciable size)*sin(x)dx integrals so I can fill a couple lines up with sine+cos-sin-cos+sin+cos or someshit. But the book decides to do it anyways, and I have to do it because it's graded and my parents will flip their shit to the moon if I don't.

That was actually the point. They were starting to be funny as far back as the seventeenth century.

I think that everyone was missing the point of my earlier statement, whose implication was meant to be about actively being a knight in the manner of, for example, El Cid Campeador, rather than about having claim to any specific titlem (which I did not at all intend to imply).

I'm proud of my family ties. One part has dual links to two English Royal Families - the Tildens were descendants of William the Conqueror's nephew, and also were related by marriage to Richard III. They've been knights/nobility for the past thousand years, then they came to Australia and promptly all died off.
My dutch side were Burghermeisters since at least 1560 and have an ancestral church.
Another strand of my English part were military class (lowest rank of nobles).

I'm proud of my heritage. ^_^
