Serious lower back pain. The last couple of vertebrae feel like they're pinching my spinal cord or something. I know a chiropractic visit would probably help, but then I'd be stuck where the chiropractor would want me to keep coming back for follow-up vists for pretty much the rest of my life. Any time I've gone to a chiropractor, it's like a bad relationship where the only way out is to fake some excuse for not making the next appointment and then just never call them again.

Well they need to keep treating those micro-subluxations and ensure  the four humours are in balance... ;)

I'm not as skeptical of chiropractic as some people. Hell, if the insurance covered it I'd head over to the acupuncturist. That'd likely work better than Backpainizine (isochloromethylbutylparasulfate-2,4,6)...now available in Tropical Fruit flavor!

It seems Paradox might be going to start selling DLCs instead of large expansions. I don't like DLCs at all, always feel like they're trying to rip me off with them. I hope Paradox at least make them worth the price they put on them.

They can, maybe, help treat some joint and muscle problems. But they also claim to cure cancer, heart disease and the common cold.

Considering we can't yet cure most forms of cancer, I'd be okay with any wild claims they make. :P

Acupuncture and TCM did wonders for my wife's allergies. Yeah, don't ask me how getting jabbed in the elbow makes you stop sneezing around cats for a while. I mean, I understand it -- I'm just not very good at explaining it in a way that doesn't start invoking mysticism.

Something's really bothering my stomach and so on.  Maybe it's Rousseau, or maybe it's the slightly old ingredients I've been consuming in mass quantities.

Feh.

While it's not a cure, per se, it's been shown that getting rid of all carbohydrates in the diet seems to starve most forms of cancer cells. The main problem is that carbohydrates tend to make up most of peoples' diets.

Yeah, I was going to say that getting rid of all carbohydrates in the diet seems to starve most people.

The science increasingly seems to indicate that there's no such thing as a "cure for cancer". In part, because cancer isn't a single disease -- it's a large group of similar diseases, and in part because you don't un-mutate millions of cells in the body. Once they've gone malignant and continue to multiply, the only real options are physical removal or containment to an area that can be destroyed in a targeted way with radiation, chemo, etc. The best options science is giving us now is better ways to minimize the chance of mutation, better ways to detect it earlier before it can spread and get established, and better targeted destruction methods.

Maybe someday we'll have retroviral therapy to restore DNA to an earlier "savepoint", which would also be an effective anti-aging treatment. But that sort of technology is a LONG way off.
