So now I've got a high level of proficiency in 3 languages.
Not enough :-\

I feel inadequate. I've got English and that's about it. Smatterings of Spanish, German, and Latin, at best. No chance of being able to carry on a conversation in any of these, or even follow one unless I'm lucky. Even one in text form.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Well, I actually meant the course here. But it fits bay12 as well.

Speaking of which...
Today's the last day. It was totally worth it.

I only know English, bits and pieces of Irish Gaelic, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. I only know how to say a couple of phrases in IG, count to ten and a couple of other words in Spanish, say hello/goodbye and a couple of others in Japanese, and a bunch of words involving violence in Korean.

I know how to say "More booze" and "Toilet" in about a dozen languages. I figure that it's all I need to know.

That's probably a very good thing to add to my repertoire. Also, sadness: I really want to play Shadow President again, but it won't accept mouse input. Any ideas, guys? :(

Gah, wrong thread.

[EDIT] Try running Shadow President with Dosbox version -0.72. It's the one I've been using and it works just fine.

Thems hacker tunes Angel! Ear destroyingly bad music that is basically an audio substitute for energy drinks, and sounds like magic when you programming. The heavy beat keeps you focused, and the offsetting nature of it keeps you on the edge.
