This Is the Title of This Story, Which Is Also Found Several Times in the Story Itself

This is the first sentence of this story. This is the second sentence. This is the title of this story, which is also found several times in the story itself. This sentence is questioning the intrinsic value of the first two sentences. This sentence is to inform you, in case you haven't already realized it, that this is a self-referential story, that is, a story containing sentences that refer to their own structure and function. This is a sentence that provides an ending to the first paragraph.

This one's pretty old but fun, the most self-referential thing ever.

Hey guys, look what I found: an online Personality Disorder Test.  Let 71 yes or no questions from the Internet tell you just how screwed up in the head you are across ten axes.

I love these things, they're such crazy magnifiers.  I remember taking them all the time as a teenager and getting depressed and paranoid because my results sounded so much worse than other people, before I figured out that these things are total bunk.

Took it for fun:

Paranoid:    Moderate
Schizoid:    High
Schizotypal:    Moderate
Antisocial:    Moderate
Borderline:    Low
Histrionic:    Low
Narcissistic:    Low
Avoidant:    High
Dependent:    Low
Obsessive-Compulsive:    Low

Not sure where the Schizoid bit came from(I don't feel like I have multiple personalities at all), but Avoidant sounds about right.

Schizoid is actually not multiple personalities. It's more about tuning out the real world in favor of the one in your head.

If you want a really fun "read" for referential brain breakage, try Finnegans Wake by James Joyce. I say "read" because as one of my favourite professors was fond of saying, no one actually reads that thing. You just carry it around and gloat pretentiously about attempting to understand it.

Neat test! I've learned a few terms for diagnoses that I didn't know before. I can see some Schizotypal behavior in myself... and a fair bit of the Obsessive-Compulsive.

Paranoid:              Low
Schizoid:              Moderate
Schizotypal:           High
Antisocial:            Moderate
Borderline:            Low
Histrionic:            Moderate
Narcissistic:          Moderate
Avoidant:              Moderate
Dependent:             Low
Obsessive-Compulsive:  High

Schizoid personality disorder refers to loners who are unconcerned about the opinions and feelings of others (for good or ill) and have a hard time socializing in general. It doesn't involve by definition any sort of psychosis.
