I have a friend with a boyfriend like that. I...don't think I can understand being paranoid like that. That's like not being able to drive for fear that you'll be flung through the windshield when you start moving, despite wearing your seatbelt and taking all precautionary measures. :/

Eh heh. I actually lost my drivers licence the day I got it... Funny story really...

Now how can you be paranoid that you will be flung out of the windscreen when the car starts moving? The force would push you back into your seat. It is when you start to break you should be scared...
Also, casual sex isn't as fun for some reason. I prefer my sex to include a movie, a dinner and breakfast the next day.

Why not just stick with the first two? Being someone you love is better than casual, but casual is still good, too.

Sex is a lot like pizza. Even when it's not very good, it's still pretty good.

I actually have a girlfriend and I still have casual friends sometimes. She supports me wanting to have an open relationship on my part.

Being with someone long term is better but then you could end up in a long term casual relationship I suppose. Things tend to improve if you know each other better and hence feel completely conformable together.

All this talk of relationships is making me sad; I'm really not an eligible bachelor right now given my current circumstances and they're not likely to change soon.

 I developed a mild phobia of cars ever since my dog died to one. It doesnt have to be rational.

 (Also all those apparent 1% risks are terrifying. Sometimes even with a huge pleasure upside and rare downside risk, the downside is large enough to be paranoid over sex.)

Chastity all the way. Pregnancy, STD's and such are way too much of a risk as far as I'm concerned.
