Blarg. Can't get my emulator to play nice with FFVII, sound's jerky as hell and the video's messed up.

FFVII?  In emulator?  Why not just use the PC version?  I know there's some differences somewhere, but I never saw them at the time.

1: The MIDI music sounds like complete ass
2: I'm not sure if the PC version even works sans a number pad, I recall some trouble with that before
3: Can't download anything hefty at the moment in any case.

It doesn't.  Trust me--I own the PC versions for both VII and VIII, and VII was transferred pretty badly.

Feel so miserable and I don't know why. I've finished my exams, finished college, I'm looking forward to university, I have good friends. The only thing I don't have is a job, but I've got reasonable savings to have fun in summer anyway, which I will because I've got a great lineup of festivals and gigs to go to. I've never felt better at playing my bass and guitar either. So why am I so sad?

Dear David Hayter (AKA Solid Snake):

You seriously couldn't write a screenplay for an X-Men movie in which Storm has a bigger role than getting the shit kicked out of her repeatedly?

And has more personality than a cardboard box?

Where the female characters weren't a. totally ineffectual (Storm, Jean Gray, Rogue), b. mostly characterized as being love interests/scared (Jean Gray, Rogue) or c. have powers expressed in lethal sexuality, as in the vagina dentata phobia (Rogue, Mystique)?

I'm not trying to say it's a misogynistic movie or something.  My chief bone to pick with it was that I was bored.  I mean, I watched it... but I was bored.  Another bone I am picking is with the characterization of Wolverine, who in the more recent comics generally came off like a nearly-feral monster who was barely on one side of turning berserk at his introduction.  I like that Wolverine.  Now he's another vaguely gruff dude with no conviction, barely acceptably differentiated from Cyclops to act as a foil.  Of course, that Wolverine can't be used as a POV character; Rogue can't be used as a POV character, either, because she's both too low-powered and not much more than a walking McGuffin.  So of course, in this little plot, Wolverine is the only POV character that really makes sense.

My point of view on this is that they should have saved his introduction for the second movie, or given him a smaller role in the first.  He's a fan favorite, like Nightcrawler.  Fair enough.  So is the Joker.  The other characters needed a hell of a lot more space to shine than they were given, and a much, much better script writer.

Also, if they could've excised the little love triangle between Jean, Cyclops, and Wolverine, I might have been happier.  It just feels awkward at this stage of the plot.

Also also, cooler action sequences.  I.e. ones that didn't suck.

Also also also, someone who could act playing Storm.

And some good jokes.

At least X-2 was amazing.

First. I have learned today that apparently the remains of a person who have been cremated are called cremains. This... irks me. More than I would expect. Maybe because it just sounds like absolutely atrocious wordplay applied to a dead person's remains, combined with how my grandmother died recently (memorial service was just yesterday), but "cremains" just bugs me.

Second, I really don't get why people feel compelled, when they have actually been decent enough forum members in the past, to shift gears and go into long-term trolling mode. Not here, to be clear, but annoying and vaguely saddening to see nonetheless.

I keep looking for this articl that described some of the Final Fantasies (1-10, and then Crystal Chronicles) but I can't find it, at all! It was really, really funny, and written by some guy with socks in his username. I'm pretty sad/annoyed that i can't find it.

Feeling a little meh. Probably gonna go to bed early, so I can sort out some things in my head that have been bugging me for a while.

Feeling incredibly down. Still in pain, which isn't going to go away and is really setting off my depression. It's only been maybe 12 and a half hours since this started, and I'm tense all over, quivering, feeling ill and sometimes find myself seriously considering suicide as an option. I should have gone to bed 4 hours ago, but I'm not going to be able to sleep like this.

I want to curl up under my bedcovers, but curling up hurts. I feel like a useless, self-pitying arsehole.

I just feel like shit again tonight.
That and, for the past few nights, I've not remembered to eat anything.
Now that I have food in front of me, I don't want it at all.
