(I'm not interested in getting married, either.  My interest is solely in trolling my family and everyone else for miles, including myself.  I'd like the bouquet to be welded.)
It could be a yearly event.  The wedding is a wild, crazy party involving historic armour and machinery, and an equally crazy annulment happens on the next day.

"Hey, where are you going today?"
"Vector's getting married again."
"Oh. Have fun, and watch out for the drunk bikers this time!"

This is a discussion about a world too glorious to belong in this thread. It depresses me that the day will be a long time in coming (if ever). Although, we should probably have a rotating set of people getting married. That way we can get new perspectives on awesome things to be done, and people don't have to worry so much about topping what they did last year.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

This, and also... why should forum-goers get married in a registry when people are getting married-for-no-reason in great pomp and absurdity?

No, this sort of thing is better when it's serious business, with serious business camels.

Is there is any reason you people would need to get married at all?

Why not just a crazy party if one was to do this?

Or at least make it a not legal marriage so you do not have to go though and get a annulment later.

You're right, I did.  Darn it, I always slip on the f key.

Well, this largely grew out of "If I'm a girl and I'm supposed to get married, how would I do it without gagging on my pride?"

I'll be realistic here and state that if I ever get married, it'll be all traditional, involving fire sacrifices and rice and tying our clothes together.

that said, I don't know if I'll ever get married, unless I happen to fall in love with somebody by accident. The whole concept of going out and seeking somebody to get into a romantic relationship with just seems alien to me.

My friend and I were on google chat talking.

Google cheerfully gave us a helpful reminder that today is Father's day.

Her father passed away last year.
