I realized that I hold no faith in humanity. This made me very sad.

I wish I knew what people mean when they say that.

well, girlfriend wants to give away her german shepherd which apparently is very aggressive and bit 4 people (even her). Now first she's over reacting, her dog never broke skin and only left a bruise on her, hell i got a scar from my brother's bite. Second the only reason why i think this dog has some issues is because they are not assertive enough in their commands to him. The dog is fine, he doesn't attack me, hes being a dog his mind is set to defend. Of course no point in trying to convince her even though her mom does want to keep the dog. I can't have him as my roommate already has 3 dogs and the city doesn't allow anymore. Urgh im not letting her pass up this animal.

My puppy bit me all the time, it was how he showed that he wanted to play. Yeah you just need to be assertive like you said, with the right training you can make them more gentle in their affections. Or it's one of those dogs that likes to have something in their mouth, in which case training them to chew on a specific toy and limiting access to it can do wonders.

I'm with ya on this issue man, sounds like a wonderful dog and a sad situation to be in.

To be fair, dogs just aren't for everyone.  Yeah, these problems could be fixed as described... but if she's genuinely not interested in putting forth that effort or the required behavior isn't appealing to her, then it's just best that she not have a dog.

Personally, I don't hate dogs, but I absolutely can't stand to be around the majority of them.  I can't stand when animals crave attention too aggressively, and I don't just mean that they jump on your or something, but that even a well trained dog who only interacts when appropriate emits constant waves of "oh god oh god oh god please masters I need your attention to validate my existence oh the agony of being a good dog!" which batters relentlessly on my empathic receptors.  Even more than that, I absolutely hate being assertive.  It is completely counter to my being, and I avoid situations where it's necessary, such as with keeping a dog well-behaved.

Yeah, if she isn't a dog person then she probably should get rid of it, but that depends on you as a boyfriend figuring out the motives for her wanting to get rid of it. It should probably be your first priority, to find out what the problem is before looking for solutions.

Our full grown dog would play like that all the time. I used to get big red marks all over my hands after messing with him. He never broke the skin, and it hardly hurt at all. Unfortunately I was the only one who actually enjoyed playing with him like that, so he's got new owners now.

They apparently thought it was necessary to do a white-people remake of My Sassy Girl.

*siiiiigh*

Oh, and my library doesn't have either version.

Princess cake: Sponge cake with creme frosting and black licorice syrup covered in marzipan.

This makes me sad. I despise both licorice and marzipan. Anyway the more you know.

I love marzipan, but licorice syrup... really?

I need a new droolydream, I guess.

Do yourself a favour and don't watch the remake unless you feel like drinking excessively first to make it all darkly humourous. I also much preferred it subbed.

'Windstruck' is the "unofficial prequel" to My Sassy Girl and while quite different, can be seen directly as the events that led to My Sassy Girl. Same director and lead actress :) It's also worth watching.

EDIT: But 'My Sassy Girl' is better because of this:
Quote
Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book
It's a better/less internety Densha Otoko if it happened in Korea, with a Korean girl applying comedic beatings!

Haha, really?  I actually watched a little bit of Densha Otoko, when I was younger.  It kind of reminded me of The Princess Diaries.

Ahhh, well.  I really want to see this film, now.

Just went to a funeral for a five year old boy who died of brain cancer. I find it disgusting that people were cracking jokes and laughing while a child's corpse lay in a casket only a few meters from them.

Sometimes people try to deflect the reality of loss with humor. It's not really an effective method of coping, but it is used by some.

I am one of those people that employs humor whenever possible, but I would never employ it at a funeral out of respect for the mourners.
