There have been five car accidents on my street in the past three days. In total, nine cars have been wrecked, two utility poles leveled, twelve people dead. I feel terrible for those involved and their friends and loved ones. Still, people live on this road and it is not acceptable to block my driveway, loudly, with a memorial to your friend who killed three people by driving drunk, while you yourselves are drunk, at midnight.

Edit: Took a quick jog at front and asked them to move the thing just literally anywhere else. This is a sturdy construction, like, they used nails and 2x4s and cinder-blocks, and it completely spans the mouth of my driveway. I had rocks and empty beer cans thrown at me, along with lots of angry rednecks calling me a faggot and a freedom hater. Good to see our next generation of patriots is turning out nicely.

Call the cops, man. I don't think that's legal.

When I was reading that edit I was so looking forward to hearing that they, while sad, understood that it would only be a little trouble for them to continue their memorial without interfering with your ability to function, and since you reasonably asked them and offered your condolences and tried to be a decent person about it, kindly apologized and moved it out of the way. Damn it. Why do I keep expecting people not to suck?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Jesus Christ, man, how long is your street? Twelve deaths isn't all that much less than the road death toll for my entire state, and there're constant initiatives by the police to reduce 'this appalling statistic'.

Making mistakes while driving made me sad today.

Oh, and watching someone else sitting in an oncoming traffic lane while waiting to make a turn. I was just waiting for someone to try making a turn and end up plowing into the guy.

@ above: Call the cops and enjoy the free fireworks show.

They drink out of cans? Down a couple of bottles and show them how a real man gets drunk, loud, and angry. This actually works better if you have a bunch of small, yet easily shatter-able cocktail glasses.

I'm playing Serious Sam as a palate cleanser after Duke Nukem's protracted Blackhawk Down-style dragging through the streets.

That fucking pillar room in Ramses.  I hate kleer skeletons enough without there being a billion of them.

Yep, call the cops on that one. If they are on your property, it is trespassing. If it is blocking the road, sidewalk, or access to them, there are laws against that as well. They have no more right to do that than you do to park your car perpendicular to the curb. And with rowdy drunks at midnight, add in one for disturbing the peace.

Whelp, looks like another bay12 spin off died a slow and inglorious death.

I am a bit conflicted about it really, and I thought I might put this in the happy thread, but I figured I should listen to the less assholy parts of my self out of respect for them.

EDIT: Moved to another thread. No need to clutter up the sad thread with politics.

My cat has a very annoying way of telling me he's hungry; he'll come into my room and whine for several minutes, and then proceed to do all the things that I hate in rapid succession. By that time I have two choices: Cave in and feed him early, or be driven insane. I love the little guy, but sometimes he drives me nuts.
