Same goes for Four Swords Plus actually. BUt damn is it fun if you get to play multiplayer.

Unless your partner's a total spaz who only ever cheers you on from the other side because he doesn't get to do anything else.

Generally, I like single player games as well, as there's literally only one or two other people that I enjoy playing video games with, but I can see why there's a trend nowadays where games lean towards multiplayer content more than single player content. It's simply the companies being readers of today's zeitgeist. Gaming is seen as an activity to relax and unwind, and people are more apt to do that with there friends, and so gaming companies focus on that.

Plus, multiplayer is its own form of user-generated content, and it's one that doesn't take much (if any) learning beyond that necessary to play the game in the first place. Especially competitive multiplayer. Greatly extends the shelf-life of a game before it gets boring, for most people anyway.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Ever had one of those days where you feel like you don't really exist, that people notice you are there only when they need something from you?

Yeah, last day of school, the evening part especially

I'm sad that a magical hippy zombie didn't float down from the sky today to demand the brains of all the wicked and nonbelievers.

*sigh*

The hard thing about being this age is that it feels like I'm always waking up into a new person.  But my stress sort of cycles... so I end up feeling calm for a couple of days and then I end up with enormous amounts of flaming "Okay, Vector, go go go!"

And feeling rife with a lack of knowledge.  Or something.  I don't even know what's wrong with me anymore.

You're aware that you have more to learn than you ever possibly could, but that's not going to stop you from trying. :P

It's around the same age that the realization began sinking in for me that I would need several lifetimes to lead the kind of life I want to live.

Yeah.

That's why I'm trying to do the best I can with all the life I have.  Keep larnin' them words and so ons.

Also, I have a cough that makes me sound vaguey like a mild and feminine flavor of Old Snake.  Now I'm thinking about that on some sort of alcohol label.

"Old Snake--now with a mild, diesel-fume flavor for the ladies.  Get yours today."

Yup.

And just think... there's this thing called boredom that plagues some people.  Such an ailment I cannot comprehend.

Eh, I get bored sometimes, usually because my brain is about to throw a hissy fit and make some more architecture for itself, and doesn't want me doing anything meaningful.  I don't think I've ever been bored for more than a day, though, and usually I'm going "... but don't I want to go do X, Y, and Z?  What on earth is this?" the entire time.  I typically just end up pacing around for hours, thinking in fragments--and then I have heavily fragmented dreams as my brain puts everything together.

And I can get pretty overloaded from super-novelty very quickly, so there's always that.  Introversion and all.

Systemic boredom, though... no.  I've never been bored like that in my life.
