Actually this seems to be a frequent result of spending so much time learning and suddenly realizing "Holy crap there's still so much to learn, how am I supposed to finish?"
I've found that once you reach that threshold you are normally already on the green in regard of passing the exam.

not sure why, but it is blocked.

Also, my Latin grade did a complete u-turn back to As and Bs. I have NO IDEA WHY IT IS HAPPENING. (Posting that here since we don't ha a "Things that made you scared today" thread)

Congratulations! You have achieved true wisdom, according to my good friends Bill, Ted, and Socrates. Actually this seems to be a frequent result of spending so much time learning and suddenly realizing "Holy crap there's still so much to learn, how am I supposed to finish?" All I can really say is that, hopefully, you'll reach a point where that's an optimistic point of view, because it means you get to do more learning.

Apologies if the post's unhelpful (I know how lame saying, "Things will probably be better later" is for when a person feels down NOW).

Haha, no, that's okay.  Thank you.

It's just kind of scary to look at my two little bookshelves full of the books I read and liked, and then look back, over my shoulder, at the enormous bookcase with books double-stacked on every shelf and so overflowing that some still have to be on the ground.

Really, it feels like I know nothing  :-[

On the other hand, playing Metal Gear Solid is making me think about serious-ish (i.e. not just porn) works in which both genders are sexually objectified, the effect on the player, the effect on the storyline's perception, etc.

I find it interesting that MGS is much more objectifying in terms of sex and so on than most shooting games (I AM LOOKING AT YOU, ASSCAM), but it has those bloody horrifying death screams, etc.  There's a very strange overall effect...

*sigh*

I can tell that I'm going to be reading a lot of sociological papers this summer.

You're too sensitive, Vector. Keep shooting at them until you don't care about anything anymore.

I kinda wish I never had to face reality forever and was free to enjoy myself limitlessly.  Unfortunately, I can't do that because I have all these responsibilities as a coming-adult now.  It really saddens me and even though I do all these things for myself they don't make me think better of myself at all.  I wish I was able to go to sleep peacefully one of these nights.  Dreaming is probably the best thing ever, and also the shortest thing ever after it's over.  I feel really sad.  I'm only happy when I'm blocking my surroundings out with fake, not real, never going to be possible EVER.  I want to be happy but I can't make myself happy I hate myself and everything about me.  I can make social interaction but what does that matter I feel very lonely and weak and helpless and want to be forgotten sometime.  That way when I'm gone nobody will have any hard-feelings or sadness of my absence.

Because of school I missed Endeavour's launch today.
But it's okay because I'm watching it now.

Kweh.

It feels like I wake up every morning and the first thing I notice is how uneducated I am.  Like someone running around in there, shouting "AAAAaaagh you know nothing you know nothing."

I've spent an unhealthy amount of my life seeking knowledge. I did it to escape from the horrors of my childhood, I did it because I never really fit in with other people, I did it because it became the only thing I really enjoyed. I/you will never know everything, I/you will never know "enough". I think I would be much better off just trying to have regular fun instead.

If we're talking about ignorance being bliss, I find that this is nonsense. With ignorance, I wouldn't know why it's better to put an icepack on my inner thigh than my forehead if I'm feeling too hot, for instance. No, the key is not to feel guilt over what you don't know. Recognizing a failure, accepting it as inevitable, and then recognizing the value in every step to correct that failure (no matter how impossible it may be to totally overcome) is a more productive path (I think) than either deliberate self-delusion or crushing self-hatred as a motivator.

But, then, I can't honestly say my own thoughts are best. I lack the requisite data to come to that conclusion, and can really only say that they're best for me, so far.

@Toony
I wrote up a whole long post of trying to be helpful, but reading over it it was a nigh-incomprehensible pretentious mass of blah, even moreso than the above. Short version: good luck, bro. It may not seem like it, but I am willing to bet that you are tough enough to pull through this.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
