I don't have a fundamental objection to Criptfeind's beliefs, except that I can't see a practical way to implement them. I cannot be so confident that somebody is going to attack me that I would be justified in striking first until they are actually engaged in the act of striking me. Not speaking semantically there, just in terms of right and wrong. We, uh, may be getting a bit off-topic here. Didn't we have a bullying thread, I say after making my actual post?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Hmm, so far we've got several proposed solutions.

Run away/advoidance of them

Ignoring them

Retaliate against them

Preemptive strikes

Ignoring them avoiding them, and running away don't solve anything, personally, I consider it nearly irresponsible. If you do somehow divert their attention from you they will simply attack other targets. I accept that many are not capable of self defence though, so in that case disregard the bit about irresponsibility. Not everyone can be strong and/or cunning.

Retaliation is the one I'm most for atm. I mainly brought up only physical earlier but there're is more than one way to retaliate. Seeking someone with authority is a path to take but rarely brings results in a school setting, with proof its a more effective choice in other settings. There is also the route of manipulation, what you would have to do for this to work depends highly on the situation. Could be anything from turning people friendly toward them hostile to provoking an attack from them in front of someone who wont tolerate them. I generally feel bad about the manipulation approach.

Preemptive strikes drifts to close to defensive bullying for me. Reminds me of an inmate shanking the biggest guy they see in jail on their first day to establish dominance or something lol. I have no experience with this one so I can't really comment on it. I will say however that as long as its known, proven bullys I can't see much morally wrong in it.

And killing is only rarely justified for my views.
Yeah. That is just craziness. I would hit much harder. I think if I got in a gang war I would gather my gang and kill them all or be killed in the first attack.

Come on man, I already answered that.

Toooo... A certain extent. If I thought it was needed for safety, and I could not do it another way, then yes I would.

No no Leafsnail.  He would never be in that situation in the first place!

Retaliate against them
Preemptive strikes
We also have coming off as unhinged and dangerous, proposed by MaximumZero.

Edit:
@Leafsnail
Maybe we haven't explained preemptive retaliation well enough. The system works something like this: "These people are very obvious threats. These are potential threats. These ones are obviously hostile, these ones aren't. These hostiles seem to be planning something. These ones don't. Watch the planners and curb the threat once it arises, and before its finished."

If this is not what Criptfeind meant then we should pray or pay homage to our gods should he ever rise to power.

Must have missed that one, sounds like it could be useful against the right type of bully. Never did that one myself either, probably can't emote well enough to pull it off. Then again the one time I was stabbed in the leg with a pencil and didn't do much of anything probably came off that way now that I think about it.

-EDIT-

My avatar disappeared, that makes me sad. Off topic, or is it on topic? lmao

It seems I have 2 other thing to add to the OP today.
(1)It looks like I defused an argument and I'm saddened by that, and then saddened because (2)I think I may be a troll. Huh. Go figure :(

I can't see Grimshot's avatar either, but I don't think that you can do that with the Turkey Curse...

I have firefox and internet explorer opened up side by side right now. I can not figure out why internet explorer refuses to show my avatar while firefox isn't giving me any issues. This is going to bother me until I figure it out...
