But wouldn't that kill the rape victims as well? Not everything can be solved by throwing bombs at it. In fact, few things are.
Yes, it's sort of a darkly sardonic joke about euthanising the place.

You're reading it from the guy who has created the third video search result on youtube/google for "The Killing Fields" and was emotionally devastated by conditions in Cambodia and by the concentration camps in Europe.

I can hardly fathom going to Africa, I'll probably shoot myself in the face.

There are good places to visit in Africa, I think.

I've wanting to go to Egypt for a while, but given the current situation, perhaps it's not the best place to go to at the moment.

Then again, it's not like I have time to go there this year.

Speaking from experience, that probably would be a better fate

I don't do touristy stuff, if I do go it'd be for some NPO work, maybe http://www.kiva.org/

But then I just know I'll end up in Rwanda, Uganda, or South Africa and losing almost all my faith in humanity... again.

Wow! They're really fucking stupid!

Yes, clearly they are mentally inferior to the civilized peoples of the world.  It has nothing to do with lingering superstitions (and/or superstition-prone institutions?) and dismally poor education. ::)

I resent that! I never once implied that the civilized people of the world weren't also stupid!

Speaking from experience

The sad thread just got sadder.  I'll leave it at that.

Yeah... speaking from second-hand experience, it's hard to disagree.

*ahem* I'll chip in with first-hand experience, myself. Eventually, the nightmares go away.

Anyway, what made me sad today was that I have to replace the most expensive light bulb in the friggin' world. My DLP TV died, and it's gonna cost over $100 to replace the lamp. Also, I got lost whilst using my GPS. The bloody thing told me that I was in Minnesota, which I am several hundred miles away from.

It's funny when those things get confused.  A friend of mine had one curious episode where it had gotten him lost, and he finally stopped using it on that trip when it told him to make two consecutive u-turns.  Yes, it told him to make a u-turn, and then immediately another u-turn.

They usually do that because it turns out that tracking a moving drink-coaster-sized relay with a satellite and comparing to debatably accurate drawings of a map isn't an exact science.  Sometimes the thing can't figure out which side of the road you're on, especially with boulevards where the system may think it's two parallel roads.

I got one for Christmas, but I never use it, because not only does it not shut up and I hate backseat drivers, but all that business about "feet" and directions and stuff makes it kinda useless in close navigation.  My mother was trying to find a church with one, and was orbiting round and round the place staring at the GPS while I kept trying to get to her to look up at the steeple.

I wouldn't use it, but my orienteering score is in the negatives. Anybody read 8-Bit Theater? Yeah, I'm almost as bad as BB.
