If I was to play at being learned I'd learn old norse and go to iceland and read the sagas, for some reason my own ancestral history is more interesting than silly greeks and romans or other continents.

I actually have a couple in English, but I haven't been able to find the time to read them, yet.  Njal's Saga and stuff.

Gotta go educate myself~  But this summer I think a lot of my spare time will be taken up by by an attempt on Master and Margarita in the original Russian.  Because I am an intellectual masochist.

The sagas are amazing, I love the way the Norsemen looked upon life.

Not completely wrong, but the Eddas are poems more than sagas.

Well, for me it was a saga in a poetic form  :P

Anyway, its content is fascinating.
Haven't read the original, but a rewritten, easy to read version.
Huh, those guys really knew how to make religion interesting...

So growing up with celtic languages will make you think they're ugly? I grew up with Danish and find it beautiful. English on the other hand, meh. I only appreciate it's use for communication, it has no artistic value for me, whatsoever.
