One of my harddrives might be dying. I've no idea if it's the 300GB one with most of my stuff on it or the 1TB one I bought fairly recently.

So I started playing Df, left my fort running for three months without knowing it was not paused. Now I have only been playing for four months, three of which have been wasted and I just got a migrant wave.

Why would they want to come to a area that has only had seven dwarfs standing in the sun for three months?

Oh god I bet I left it running well I typed this.

My Morning So Far:

6:36AM - Stay up as long as possible to leave confirmation message at my new job's answering machine
6:41AM - Go to sleep
Nebulous - Have a crappy boring dream about my current job and rut in life
12:02AM - Wake up one minute before alarm clock, turn it off
12:09AM - Lay in bed, turn off second alarm before it goes off
12:09:30AM - Get confirmation call back from work

This is going to be a long day.

I hate waking up just before the alarm goes off.  Especially since it's the time of year where 5:29 and 1:00 don't look any different so I get my hopes up thinking I get to go back to sleep.

I do this somewhat regularly.

i just got a call from some Berkeley counselor thinking about helping me transfer over there. I mean its a great idea, its a good school and Vector is there but they don't have what i need. I mean, the only reason i would transfer there if i want to continue Chemistry. Right now im doing IT work and Geology in community college.

I think I've developed a stutter. Before I never had one unless I was extremely befuddled and even then it was a single slip of the tongue. It popped up really bad when I had to give the go-ahead to put my dog down, but that was understandable yeah it was a traumatic experience. But now whenever my dad asks/tells/demands/commands(All the same thing really) I do something or say something I stutter heavily. And I fear my dad is not getting that something is wrong from this because he seems to get frustrated when I do that and becomes even more pushy, resulting in my speech getting worse. I understand it must be frustrating for him because he has trouble understanding people as it is, but how emotionally dead do you have to be to not get that being pushy is really digging deep into me?

I need medically-indicated ("necessary") but non-urgent surgery ("pretty annoying, but won't kill me and doesn't hurt too much").  My insurance covers a LOT less than I'd thought.  If the visit and tests and stuff--just standard fluid tests, no machines--came out to about $500 after insurance, I don't want to know what the surgery is going to be like.  Guess I won't be getting it fixed after all...considering my contract is ending soon and taking care of family members means I have no savings at all.

At least my next job might, I can hope, have better insurance.

...Also, it feels strange not being single anymore.  I'm not used to it!  I flirt with people a lot!  Hell she's even okay with it, but other people think it's awkward to them, so...  I don't get to have fun.  :/

Like I said, won't kill me.  Honestly, in a doctor shortage I'd rather they take care of someone's broken arm than my noncritical issues.  And doctors wouldn't be so expensive if there were MORE OF THEM.

Want to fix the medical industry?  Become a fucking doctor.  Oh, and stop suing them for a trillion dollars if they fuck up.  Everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes it really sucks when it happens to you, but the suing is ruining everything ever.

(Canada doesn't let you sue for as much, and has more doctors, ergo they CAN do cheap medicine.)

Pro tip: destroy republicanism or give up on America and go live in a slightly more socialist country that you don't have to pay so you can live! Such profit-making scum--and this in what is meant to be the greatest country in the world!

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
