My friends seem to like my most traditional, mediocre poems the best. I guess I should be happy that people like my poetry at all, but I'd really prefer that they like my best poetry instead.

Yes, but in most contexts, when you say "pickle", people assume you mean "pickled cucumber" because that's what everyone calls them.
