My method:

1. Get something like Medal of Honor.
2. Install.
3. Make account.
4. Begin to knife-camp, racking 7/1 k/d ratios.
5. ???
6. Achieve zen.

Got my hopes up after getting an interview for part-time work with an electronic repair company this afternoon. It wound up being a thinly-veiled pyramid scheme involving the sale of vacuum cleaners.

Did it have anything to do with Kirby?

That's the one. The company didn't label themselves outwardly as it, though, and were extremely coy through the whole interview process, which was my first tip-off. After they started their "group orientation" in prep for "immediate hiring" I saw what was going on, and excused myself during the break.

Waste of an afternoon, and $5.00 in gas.

Glad you recognized it.  Never work for them.  My wife did so for about a month.  They're pretty damn evil.

Heh, I was curious as to what you were referring. A quick google search for "Kirby scam" seems to illuminate it quite effectively. :D

Yeah, the stories are all pretty consistent with each other and my experience.  She went to this thing with no information just like everyone else, and was fed the same bullshit to keep her interested until she got to the training class and they pulled the switch on her.  My wife is pretty charismatic, and well-suited for that kind of job.  So she was all gung-ho about it anyway and worked her ass off.  She visited tons and tons of houses.  She was the only person out of her entire hiring class to sell a vacuum in that first month, and she actually sold two IIRC.  Kirby ended up refusing to pay her anything, because she missed a day of work due to her feet being practically made of blisters, despite being their most profitable and hardest working employee at the time.  We confronted her boss about it and her reaction was basically "Bring it on."

But that was 10 years ago.  We were 17 and 19, and haven't gone anywhere near an employment opportunity that wasn't crystal clear since.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

You should've sued them.

Yeah, it's pretty tame at this point. In large part because of the massive quantity of banhammer which would be brought down upon a thread which was a bit more, shall we say, specific.

I'm really sad, I'm not going to tell you why though unless everyone gives me lots of attention.
