He had a blood pressure around 160 when he was relaxed and hadn't done anything to raise his short-term pressure. My mom is really motioning him to go to a hospital or something.

He should do something about that for sure. Is he being treated for HT at the moment?

 He's at the hospital and my mother is militant about him staying there until they do something about it. Before the extent of his health focus was on lowering cholesterol, which is at an amazingly healthy level now. This is the first time we found out about this.

Hypertension can really sneak up on you. My uncle went from chronic hypotension to mild hypertension in ten years.

Yeah, probably.  I miss Arabic, though ;_;  Only three vowels, and all of them were easy to pronounce.

I always feel like a minority in thinking that English is beautiful. It has an amazing rhythmic quality that isn't really exploited in most poetry. Since most English poetry is written as if it were in French.

I'll agree that its richness and clarity are absolutely phenomenal.  I guess what I'm saying is that it can be used in beautiful or ugly ways, but it's so very big that it doesn't have a uniform quality to it.

It's kind of like owning a really, really good violin.  For a beginning student, it's almost impossible to play beautifully, because it's too flexible.  It's better to own a lower-quality violin, on which you can learn the basics of playing, because the resonance will be easier to exploit.  Then you can learn to play violin in English.

I'm also with this crowd.
English is amazing, in part because it has the potential to express anything.
Loose grammar and loose pronunciation make it hard to pick up, but the end result is truly unique.

And English technically has about 16 vowel sounds. We just chose the much more confusing way of representing them with only five letters. And we're not even consistent in which letter represents which sound.

Don't forget the lithographic vowels.
They're rare and most people can't type them, but they do occur.
And sometimes y.
Poor little y.
He gets elevated to a real vowel in Russian as the u sound.

Yeah, like the ash. It's easy just to render them as ae and oe though.

And man, y. Y has got to be the most confusing letter in the language. It's like three different vowels, a consonant, and a marker that makes "a say his name." Most often when that a is an e.

A ligature is two letters combined.
The aforementioned ae, oe, ampersand, eszett, double t or f, fi, etcetera.
