And just like that the day is ruined by my dad and his constant nagging :(

Fear not; stop giving a damn, or at least don't take it personally and follow his advice anyways. It happens to me but I try not to linger on it.

Not the best advice, I know.  :-\

I need better self-control. I'm only even writing this post as a form of procrastination, if I'm going to be honest with myself.

Get some good headphones and listen to this - "Sounds of Rain and Thunder on the River" on endless loop. All the loose thoughts in your head instantly get drowned out by it, and not in a headache-inducing way; you enter the 'work zone' mentality about three seconds after closing all procrastination-heavy tabs and turning it on. I use it for all the writing I do; hell, I just started a huge essay an hour ago that's due in about 11 hours and managed to set up a great essay framework and get almost 600 words deep in that time. I'm only here now because I'm breaking for food. Use it and love it, man.

This. I have about two, three windows of about a dozen tabs each open at any one time, which prevents me from doing anything useful at all. I do this whenever I need to work, and it helps. Immensely.

I made the mistake of reading the comments section on a yahoo news article, forgetting it was like a giant tub of intellectual sewage, bubbling with insults and misinformation. It...it hurt to read them but I couldn't stop. It was too grisly to look away...
It's like looking at a car accident happening. You just can't look away, the human mind is just too either awestruck at the horrible thing happening or we have a morbid curiosity of carnage.

And MoM, there is only one person I would consider you an alt of if I wasn't the kind of guy to just refer to people as they want to be referred to as, and she is too direct to do anything like this.

Don't worry about it; half the users of the lower forums are Pathos anyways.

Everyone thinks everyone else is someone's alt or is a troll down here. It does get annoying, but there's not much you can do about it in the end. But I don't think you're a troll or anyone else Merchant.

Now for reason I came here. I'm sad becouse I'm fucking bored all the damn time. Even when playing games they don't hold my attention for too long before I just get bored or annoyed with them, even some of my favorate games are like this. I study to take the G.E.D. test since I was home schooled for my later school years due to......problems with the public systems. I don't have an I.D. so I can't even get a job, I'm just stuck at home all day and bored bored bored. Hell it's unlikely that I'll even be able to take my drivers permit test since my sister is gone all day and night, my step-dad just had his liceanse suspended from over $1000 worth of unpaid tickets, and my mom is busy all day with re-doing college.

The GED isn't hard.  How are you doing on the practice tests?  ID's not too bad to get either, and fairly cheap.  It's a huge pain if for some reason you don't have your birth certificate, but, eh...  If you were planning on putting off getting an ID until you were ready to get your learner's permit, I'd say don't bother.  The minor duplication of expense and time is nothing compared to being able to apply for jobs etc in the meantime.

That said, yeah, I know how it feels with the whole "games do not hold interest".  Can't offer much advice there except to try and turn towards creative efforts instead.  You'll get bored with those too, given enough time, but if you balance them all there's a happy medium to be found!

wait, crap, this isn't Life Advice...

Footkerchief pretty much just lives to snark people.  It's like a shark, but snark.
