Have you ever thought that maybe they just want to see you for a day or two? Of course though, I don't know your family history and it sounds like you don't want to talk about it.

Well, I've found that when I divulge personal information, the thread quickly derails into people accusing me of being a troll.

Yeah, I hate that. It's like everyone is out on a trollhunt all the time and they'll do anything to bag one, even if someone isn't a troll.

Short version is, my parents are ringing me asking me to come back home, Which, for a variety of reasons, is no longer an option.
Then I'm sure you can solve the problem by telling them about those reasons.

Even if you can't convince them that your decision is correct, this might help. If nothing else a firm 'I'm doing this because of X, Y, and Z and I'm not going to change my opinion on it!' might reduce the frequency of the phone calls a bit.

As for threads getting derailed...I guess you could PM some people who's opinion you respect if you want more concrete advice without bringing in the whole forum.

I think a lot of it might be your habit of divulging information only about

a. Nightmares
b. Child
c. Lesbianism.

Meh.

I think that was because you seemed to be seeking attention early on and the thing with the broken hand just seemed a little suspect, but everybody is over that now.

Frankly I believe I'm just starting to grate on everyone's nerves at the moment.

I don't think you are, not my nerves anyway.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I know you do on mine, but I have a short fuse anyway so I don't know how much that reflects onto others.

Still, random people on the internet are not the best to get advice from, but it may be a good outlet.

Well, you do get on my nerves slightly with flaunting the whole bisexual thing and I do feel like saying something about it, but i just ignore it and move on. Otherwise you don't get on my nerves.

You don't get on my nerves; I just kinda sit back and think 'Jesus H Fuck, that is the polar opposite of my life.' I will admit to suspecting sockpuppetry in the early days, but only because what you posted about your life seemed so spectacular that it intercepted Santa on the way to the bell curve's house and shat down its chimney instead.

I was kind of suspecting that TMoM was some sort of Pathos reincarnation...

Well, I only noticed that 90% of the things posted are about your girlfriend.

Or a much less entertaining female version of Nikov. (No offense Nikov, you're a cool guy)
