Let me make myself completely clear: I hate the idea that a desirable woman is helpless, and it makes me sad that some women will leave themselves helpless and just wait for someone else to save them.  I have met these people.  They exist, they annoy me.  End of story.

Different people like different things.  I don't like this.  If I say "it really bothers me when people waste food," is that a stereotype?  If I say "it really makes me pissed off when people are offered an education and ignore it in favor of doing nothing," is that a stereotype?

No, you think it's a stereotype because I'm talking about something society encourages: helpless women.  I'm not saying "that woman is soft-spoken!  I hate her because she must not help herself."  I'm saying "That woman gets in trouble and just sits there!  That really burns me up."  I started by thinking about women who don't help themselves, and then I started thinking about men that fulfill the same role.  Both make me angry.  I get more angry about the women, though, because it's encouraged by society in many of our cultural memes.  I'm not more angry at the women, I'm more angry that we would see all this muck as a positive thing.

I believe "waiting around for a prince in times of trouble" is one of those behavioral things, by the way.  If I observe a behavior, I reserve my right to judge--and I have observed this behavior, down to having women nickname me "their prince."

I have never encouraged that, but I've also never seen it. My observations so far suggest to me that society encourages women to act stupid and shallow because that's what they think men want, rather than helpless.

So, that's three opinions down, 6,699,999,997 to go.
