I am sad because there are no new replies on the thread for my game. It's in my sig, even! [/shameless self promotion]

You should probably put more info up than "I have a game" and an un-named url if you want people to want to click it.

I fixed it. Then I got sidetracked. Then I posted this. It's fixed, either way.

rrrrraaaaarrrr
I'm going to be taken out of my controlled environment again and loaded up into a car and driven to the goddamn beach. Assuming I survive, I'm going to be offline for a while. So, Suggest Schil Some Games So That He Can Download Them, Play Them For An Hour and Decide They Suck and then Sit And Be Miserable With Nothing To Do (copyright Schil 2010).

Flexibility is good for you.  Try to enjoy your feelings of uncertainty.

I suggest Braid, Portal, Cave Story, and Eversion.

Uncertainty isn't the problem, I'm absolutely certain as to what's going to happen. I'm going to be subjected to extreme heat, humidity, direct sunlight... and sand.

Also, played every single game that has been suggested so far, except "Braid" and Spelunky and that la-mulana game. Going to check that out now. Thanks guys. I also downloaded every single Marathon TC ever so... that should last a few days. If I bring some books I should be good.

Have you never been a minor with parents that want to vacation?

I was always told "because we don't trust you by yourself for a week." In retrospect, they were probably right. I had this amazing ability to be both a totally buttoned down nerd and a punk. Unfortunately, both of those things encouraged my parents to get me away from home more often.

Let me guess: They're saying that this is for your own good, or some stupid stock phrase like that, right?

... Go wading, dig a hole, build a sandcastle, kick over your sandcastle, run away from jellyfish.  Write a list of all the things that make the beach so very beachy.  Put seaweed on a dog.  Collect shells.  Get a ridiculous sunhat and enjoy having an excuse to wear it.

Look out at the ocean and understand how small you are.

That's what I do at the beach, anyway.  I'm sure you'll be able to think of something to do.

My god kite flying. Good times.

You hav't lives unless you have seen a kit lurch out of the hands of your dad, see him dive into the water after it and watch as in twenty seconds it's already a mile out. And you see your dad stop on a submerged sand bar and look out at the disappearing kite, still flying.

They're making you go outside, on vacation, with your family?

How horrible.

No, they really just don't care about my well-being. I'm pretty used to it. The primary decision maker in this process doesn't want to go either, but is going to anyway. Totally illogical. I'm far, far more mature than all of them combined and would probably be better off finishing my developmental process on my own.

Meh, I've been through worse.

That just gave me a cool idea.
Kite surfing, it's like instead of being attached to a speed boat you're attached the a kite being carried by strong winds.
The only problem I see is that you'll be only going in one direction, away from safety.

And like a pillar of salt in a boiling ocean of hatred, you too will eventually crumble and succumb.

They actually have this!  Go look it up, it's cool.

Now go have a good time, so that when you get back I can say "I told you so."

Sorry, but this is simply not true. Nearly every single one of us has felt that at some point, and only the tiniest, most unlucky, portion of us have actually been right. You're a teenager, this happens, they're right. I was pissed off at my parents for always 'interfering' in my life, but at the age I was, they had every right to. Hell, they still do, they're my parents.

They do know better.

And that is why they say you need help. Not having a rough understanding of human behavior is a fairly big issue when you're a human being.

There's a question you're not asking, and the shortest answer is, roughly, very, very simply, no. Biologically, yes, psychologically, no.
