Yeah, the fact the the bugbear got close enough to trip you means you don't have enuff magic dakka.
Also the attacks of opportunity shouldm't worry you if you are a mighty man-tank covered in plate steel.

No, but can you imagine playing actual D&D like this?

The bugbear trips you.  Standing up will provoke attacks of opportunity from all four bugbears standing around you.  What do you do?

Uhh, die, I guess...

I've always wondered why all the bugbears in the temple had such a hard-on for tripping opponents.

I remember fighting bug bears in a game but I just can't remember the game....

Wait, I think it was a modded Dwarf Fortress.  Yeah, it totally was.  I think it was the one Meph made actually.

They prefer it when you're prone.

I remember a time where I honestly thought Bugbears were some sort of mutant mammal-insect hybrid.

I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed by what I found in the DnD Monster Manual...

Maybe the devs should have had enough common sense to add the ability to attack from the ground.

Man, I just like it for the Demons. And the Devils. And the Dragons.

Seriously, we don't need two kinds of bear what also has another animal's features.

I wouldn't be surprised if we did see some kind of bug/bear hybrid.  It seems like the main fallbacks for D&D are (in this case using a bear as the template) zombie bear, skeleton bear, bear golem, bear demon, bear combined with some other animal, etc.

Okay, I'm a bit confused as to how that abomination would look like.

It's like a normal bear. Only more so.
