Hang them up in a closet, and use some method to draw faces on them that glow in the dark.

Open the closet using a bit of string when he turns off the light to go to sleep.

You realize of course this whole scheme is going to fall flat on its ass the first time you're caught planting tubemen around the house.  Then only one person is going to look crazy.

Wear a cardboard sombrero while you're doing it.  If you're going to look crazy, look crazy and festive.

Sadly I don't have any scotch tape, only duct, which is a little bit conspicuous. I'll have to see about grabbing some and decorations tomorrow. Tape is cheap enough to keep in the budget, fortunately.

Simple enough, don't get caught.

Also, don't stick with the sombrero. Dress up in the craziest way possible (but the material must allow you to move silently) so that when you are caught, you can roar like a Koala (they have a fucking terrifying roar) and dive out the nearest window.
