Just... seriously you guys. How many times has someone tried to make light of a tenuous or downright bad situation in this thread and had it blow up in their faces? I count at least three, although I haven't been keeping track of how many times it's been attempted successfully.

I'm more inclined to blame this trend on the people who preemptively freak out on behalf of whoever they think should be offended.

Well, the first two I noted were when Janet got pissed at people who tried to make a joke about her situation, so it's not (as far as I can see) people freaking out on the behalf of someone else that's the main issue.

But I digress. I'm not saying that if someone freaks out when someone else makes a joke they're in the right. I'm saying that if it keeps happening that's a fair indication that people should stop doing it. Like I said, I've only counted about three times but I'm positive there's more.

Let's wait for Vector to get angry or not angry, and if she does get angry the anger is hers alone.

Rosewood is a bastard.
Disagree.  Rosewood is lovely... I've just taken the strings off my guitar and put some lemon oil on it, and the fretboard is looking lovely.

Considerably better than maple, plus it sounds warmer and less bright.  :)
HOHOHOHO Fuck off, and come back when you've found the context. Yes, Understandably I would assume you know it's a name, and are making light of it- But still. Go find out the events before that post, and then see if it's worth making fun of the situation.

On that note: What's up, Vector?

Eh, it's all right.  I was feeling really upset about not having any friends to hang out in real life but him, especially because I was still kind of angry and hurt--but then I realized that he's a child who really needs to grow up, and I don't want to date him right now, anyway :I  We may both be pretty terrible relationship material, but I'm not the one who consistently treats people badly in little sniperish ways.

So in a year or two, I'll probably be ahead on him at the "not failing at life" scale, and I can choose whether or not I want to date him or someone else.  This stupid and inequitable position will not last.  In fact, it should go down in flames over the next while, so there's nothing left to fear or be bothered by.

RAWR VECTOR RIDES AGAIN!!

In my defense, I wasn't making fun... There was no intent to cause her pain or make her situation seem petty or superficial  :-\

Sorry.

EDIT: And sorry, I didn't realise it was the name of a person, I thought she actually was refering to a kind of wood. Clearly, I don't belong here.

It wasn't actually a joke  :'( I actually thought she was talking about woodworking; I didn't know it was a person.

Don't worry, doodabuddy... I won't eat you.  Well, nowadays, anyway.  I'm feeling a lot better about the whole situation.

As Rumi wrote,

Quote from: My Worst Habit
My worst habit is I get so tired of winter
I become a torture to those I'm with.

If you're not here, nothing grows.
I lack clarity. My words
tangle and knot up.

How to cure bad water? Send it back to the river.
How to cure bad habits? Send me back to you.

When water gets caught in habitual whirlpools,
dig a way out through the bottom
to the ocean. There is a secret medicine
given only to those who hurt so hard
they can't hope.

The hopers would feel slighted if they knew.

Look as long as you can at the friend you love,
no matter whether that friend is moving away from you
or coming back to you.

... Mostly, I'm referring to the end tercet, though the entire poem is so good I felt I should post the whole thing.

Let's wait for Vector to get angry or not angry, and if she does get angry the anger is hers alone.

Dude, I was going to make a joke about how Black Walnut is a real asshole and makes your nostrils purple.  Not a very funny joke, but a joke anyway.

Made an Appalachian Dulcimer when I was 13 or so.  Sucker stained my hands bright purple for days.  Doesn't sound very good, though... and I named it "Joyeux" after Lancelot's sword.  No wonder all the other kids thought I was a total dork.

I happen to think young-me was pretty darned cool, though.  Hrmph.

I guess I've come crawling back, in a way.

Had a bit of a reality check and realised that I was weaker than I thought, and that what I thought was secure was actually unstable.

Just... I dunno, I've been reading through this thread in light of how little I knew about it, and I'm sorry for all the pain. This is probably caused by the slow descent into despair over the past fews days, but it is sincere.

I've got into something further than I should have done, and built up an idea of something that wasn't there.

I dunno  :-\

Definently enjoying WoW instead of Ragnarok Online.  Sure the classes aren't balanced in either one, but at least the priests in WoW have at least one decent attack spell.

That does seem kinda unreasonable.

Things that made me sad today... hum... Oh yeah. My university finally went with the full on-campus smoking ban. Needless to say, I'm rather miffed.

Smoking has been clamped in all public places really, can you still smoke in casinos?  I don't remember.

Anyway, I'm running on empty right now.  A bit of food would help, but there's too much soda every freakin' where.  Either that or a stupid like twinkie or something and I ain't eaten that.  One life skill I'm going to learn is to cook, not just boiling a hot dog, I mean COOK.  Like something that takes effort.

I'll never be able to understand the prohibitionist sentiment and the strength the anti-smoking movement has built up. :/

Of course, until I smoked I could never understand why anyone would, so I suppose it just boils down to a "Thems is marginally different from me!?!?!?!? FUCK THEM! >:O " kind of thing... :-\

Friday I couldn't get into a movie theater to see Kick Ass because the only ID I had was my college one (where they're not legally required to card people), and proceeded to a tobacco shop where I bought a new pipe and some pipe tobacco and wasn't carded (where they are legally required to card people). Weird fucking world, isn't it?

(Both of those things were actually bad, the movie theater because it was an unacceptable slight, and the tobacco shop because I spent $60, and they are both still relevant because that slight still offends me and I'm still down $60 D:)

We missed (me and my sister) Kickass since we showed up at the mall early, only to find out that all the stores here close at 9pm. We watched clash of the titans instead. Can't say it was a really good movie, since I found out I'd rather watch kickass.

Hurg a burg.  The last movie I went to was Avatar back in February.  I was like let's see a movie and that was the only one available at that moment.  I can't say it's a bad movie, but I can't say it was good either.

I tend to avoid going to movies unless I want to see the movie (this happens maybe every other year, it has to be interesting) or when I'm going with other people (that's why I saw Avatar).

The last time I went to see a movie was District 9 back in August 2009 and I enjoyed it.

No, it's because secondhand smoke causes cancer. That's it. There is no prejudice, smoking damages both your health and the health of the people around you. And as many people aren't considerate enough to put it out when even children are nearby, of course they banned it in public places.
