Oh man, I think my mind is getting blown, but I just can't feel it!

If only I understood what was going on...

If only I understood what was going on...

Then clearly you need a little help... the sad part is that all of these are completely true.

And, something to think on:

TGL has always had more death than life.
Most patterns will die out within a couple of generations.

A distant friend of my brothers committed suicide, and now every single member of my family is inconsolably sad but me.

Would you feel better to know that the social expectation that is saddening you is also making everyone else fake sadness?

not everyone shows grief through sadness, just a majority. Sometimes people react in different ways, sometimes they don't react at all. If the person was distant than it's not strange for you to be less effected by it. If I found out that a relative of mine out west died tonight. I wouldn't really be affected. I've seen them maybe 3 times in my life?

that being said, i sure do hope one of them does not die suddenly as I would hate to feel some measure of responsibility. *knocks on wood*

I have been spending way too much time working the past month or two. I'm working almost 40 hour weeks, plus 15-20 at my internship, and I have absolutely no time for the people I love. As a result, my most treasured relationship is slowly falling to pieces.

EDIT: Wow, that really sounds like a sob story now that I'm rereading it.

Yes, I am sure that the tree doesn't hold a grudge while you are bashing it...

But yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if they were upset about the thought of suicide, it tends to make humans uneasy. Also they may be worried that it could be contagious... And of course people don't want to seem insensitive...

Well, had a really rough day. Got pressganged into taking six people in my car, even though five friends of mine died about half a year ago because of overloading a car, then managed to run a red light. Got a parking ticket, which I've never had before so I'm freaking out about how the fuck I pay the things. Etc. Etc. It's been hell. Got home, had two Double Blacks back to back, and I'm on my third. Let's hope this night gets batter.

He means your family tree. Which is silly because I don't think anyone assumed you meant everyone in your family ever.
