@Truean:Good advice with the happy place thing.
I'm rather irritated that people I know personally to be good people are being lumped in with the crazy radicals these people (and most of the people here seem to) detest.

Guys I know let's answer hate with discrimination against the entirety of a religion that'll help
hahaha ikr that totally works and isn't at all hypocritical, totally

Not a religion. All Abrahamic religions. They're all made of the same toxic base.

There's plenty of decent people who follow these religions, but they only manage to be so decent by ignoring 90% of what their religion has to say and/or dismissing most of the contentsof their holy texts as oblique and non-obvious metaphors

nevermind i forgot that politics are more important than actual sads
your sads don't need to reflect the topic of the thread at the time you enter it

honestly it'd be better if you posted them to short circuit the circlejerk

Excuse me, would you like help extracting your foot from your mouth?  You seem to be going the wrong way.

The thing is, religious moderates aren't openly blasting their religion like the crazies.  So you see the crazies and stereotype everyone else.  But seriously, if all of the Abrahamic faiths were all radicalized, we would not be having this discussion.  We would all be indoctrinated by now.

Also, counterexample, Pope Francis.

Let me put it this way, I don't believe that it's possibile to believe in Deuteronomy and Leviticus and still be a good person.

You can be a "Christian" or a "Jew" and simultaneously be a good person if you skip over them (as well as good chunks of the rest of the old testament especially in Joshua and Genesis) and pretend they're not there, but that's kind of a cop out

they would just be ignored in favor of a flamewar. me and others posted sads, no responses, the moment some fucking politics show up the thread starts moving, despite the dozens of dedicated politics threads we have.

Thanks. Not gonna lie; it hurts, a lot. I really wish people wouldn't do the things they do, but they do. There isn't a whole lot I can even do.

My relationship with religion is complex with a long explanation; I'll spare you. Basically, some of the more conservative Christian sects aren't nice to GLBT (gay) people. That said, there are some Christians who are decent people, and trying to be excellent people the best way they know how. While would really appreciate no condemnation and some of that compassion I hear about with them....

The problem is that when you're all wearing the same symbol it looks like you're on the same team and one makes the rest look bad. That said. There's a track record there, and politicians being elected off some very hurtful beliefs.

It's probably better to keep the euphoria contained in the religion thread.

Yeah, I don't into Scripture all that much.

They're concerned mostly with strongly condemning harmless and wholly irrelevant things (like homosexuality, prostitution, witchcraft, pork, clothing made of more than one kind of fabric, beastiality, Idolatry, not wearig a hat, and having your period), condoning slavery, and promoting racial purity in a way which ironically prefigures Nazi Germany

EDIT:
I'll shut up now

Yeah, that sucks. Honestly, I spent most of my childhood with those little things either getting bent out of shape, digging into my nose or broken off. I'm so glad I have the nosepieceless plastic version now, even if they do occasionally fall off my face.
